W.T. Carlsen Danish born Canadian Artist who work in Canada and Scandinavia. Known for his rich harbor scenes. This work dates from the 1970s and is done from his memory of Denmark. The work is oil on panel and measures 24 x 24“, and is framed in a beautiful 1970s era drift wood frame measuring 32 x 32“

Jake Lee's works are increasingly sought after by collectors in the wake of his relatively recent passing, some works approaching $20,000 at auctions. This is a clean, unusually large (24" by 36" plus 4" on a side framing) example, painted directly on board in heavy gouache or tempera (thinned oil?) and in excellent condition. This is a rather unusual and visually arresting contemporary work by a Japanese or Japanese-American artist, signed at top right "Yasushi Saito" and dated there '78. An oil on canvas, unframed, measuring 23" by 19", the work is difficult to describe: a carp-like blue fish at right center appears with conical mountains that resemble Mount Fuji or desert peaks, as stunted bizarre vegetation, possibly trees, complete the visual feast...

This is a fine pencil drawing of a Victorian style wood home, 16" by 11 1/2" (24 3/4" by 18 3/4" framed), signed at lower right "David" and dated there '73. One is reminded of Edward Hopper's haunted, lonely dune houses or even the infamous back-lot Bates Motel house from the movie "Psycho" where Anthony Perkins did his thing. Condition is excellent. Found in San Francisco, the city where many treasured gingerbread houses of Victorian times still stand.

An original pencil and watercolor drawing, titled on the reverse possibly in the artist's hand "L'entree des Tuileries a Paris", signed at lower right by the well-known, widely honored and sought after artist, ANDRE HAMBOURG (1909-1999). The drawing, of the famous Tuileries gardens in central Paris, measures 5 1/2" by 8" inside the mat opening. It is nicely framed in gold leaf (12 1/2" by 15") with hand-drawn mat lines. The work likely dates to the 1960's through 1980's...

Watercolor painting of an old colonial church building, likely in Mexico, signed at lower left "F. BERGMANN". The piece, 14 3/4" by 19" (24" by 28 1/2" framed) was painted in the 1960's or 1970's. It is in excellent condition. The artist FRANZ BERGMANN (1898-1977, some show 1970 as death date) was born in Austria. After service World War I, he attended the Vienna Academy of Art...

Gouache on paper, 16 1/2" by 10 3/4" and 4" on a side mat/frame, signed at lower left in Cyrillic with the possible name "Dreber" or "Dreiber" or "Dreyber", and dated 22 November 1974. This carefully crafted drawing of fuchsia and a tulip-shaped bloom reminds me of early American folk art Americana like Pennsylvania fraktur.......but, this is Russian! Condition is excellent with just slight mottling of a leaf... I think this could be just the artist's handling of the paint...

A vintage oil on board painting of an impossibly endowed southwestern desert scene, (possibly Arizona, since the saguaro grows natively only there) signed at lower right with initials "AHS". The painting, 14" by 18" (19" by 23" including linen covered surface around the painting) likely dates to the 1960's or early 1970's...

At first glance this might appear to be a print, but it is not: it is an amazingly crafted quite large hyper-real watercolor painting, 29" by 19 3/4" inside the mat, 37 1/2" by 26" framed, signed at lower right by the artist, JAY RATHER. From my internet research, this appears to be a work by the son of Texas artist Herb Rather (1930-), who painted in a similar style, though the online reference mentions Jay as Herb's father, not his son...
