This appears to be the head of a woman, perhaps Orientalist subject matter. I speculated that this might be a work by the noted Santa Fe, New Mexico modernist artist Willard Nash (1898-1943), but he did not sign like this, so far as I can determine, and the subject matter would be unusual for him...

Contemporary pastel portrait of a contemplative young brunette, 19" by 14 1/2" (25" by 20 1/2" in gold framing), signed at lower left with what appears as "Fredric Golds" (or, "Goldstein", or "Goldey" or similar). The obviously-trained artist has demonstrated his skill with pastel. The work probably dates to the 1970's or 1980's and is in excellent condition. There is some gold loss on the frame in a few places.

Highly impressionist oil on canvas painting in a lovely long horizontal format, 16" by 32" (29" by 45" framed), signed at lower right by noted listed artist JOHANNES SCHIEFER (1896-1979). The work is titled "Mojave" on an old label affixed to the frame. Schiefer was born in The Netherlands. A finely done miniature portrait painting on naturalk organic material, depicting an handsome gentleman wearing a black coat, white shirt and collar, with a stickpin.

The painting is in superb condition, with no problems or restoration. It is housed in its original case of cast foliate brass with the reverse having a glazed aperture. The case and glass are also in excellent condition, though the reverse has several unimportant dents.

This is a work with a real WPA 1930's feeling to it, but it is dated 1965. The artist was IDA HANSGEN, or possibly, HANSGREN. (There's a little writing on the frame on reverse that suggests there might have been an "r" in her name). Very surprisingly, I cannot find a listing or any information on her.
