Watercolor on paper, 12 1/2" by 9 1/2" inside the mat, 18 1/2" by 14 1/2" as framed, the subject the Museum of Wooden Architecture in Suzdal, Russia. Suzdal is in the province of Vladimir, approximately 150 miles northeast of Moscow. The work is signed at lower right by the talented contemporary Russian gallery artist NIKOLAI TROSCHENKOV (1961-) and dated there 1989, and at lower left, I'm told, is the name of the town (all this related to me by Russian speakers)...

Jean Louis Forain 1852-1931 French This is a very rare original drypoint etching by French artist Jean-Louis Forain, the title is C'est Fini, this drypoint was created and printed circa 1890, there was a later Verticle composition with the same name. This image measures 9 1/2X12 inches. Printed on a medium weight laid type sheet,. Weve been unable to find another example of this scarce drypoint. Hand signed in pencil lower right.

Large, impressive 1981 painting of an arched stone footbridge over a brook in a leafy, park-like setting, 38" by 50" framed, signed at lower right TOSTRUP. There is a listed artist by the name of Axel Tostrup (born 1947) but I am not certain that this is that artist. What is certain is that the painting is beautifully executed by a talented hand. A vintage etching of Sacre Coeur church in Montmartre district of Paris, circa 1945, pencil signed by the artist at lower right margin and bearing his red stamp at lower left margin. The unframed print measures 17 1/2" by 12 1/4". Paper is heavily browned with age, though evenly so; there is some discoloration in margins, and lower left corner is a bit bent. Frame with fresh mat and the margin issues disappear and you have a solid etching of Sacre Coeur...

Oil on canvas painting of a young woman seen in 3/4 view, signed at upper left (incised) Dan A Griggs and dated there '90. The work measures 10 1/2" by 8" (16" by 14" framed). I opened the backing to see if there was any more information on the talented artist but was stymied by the foamboard being partially affixed to the canvas. The framer's stamp, very faint, is from Alamagordo in southern New Mexico. Note the beautiful, skilled handling of the light, the composition, and paint...

A nice c1814 example of a Frederick Buck miniature of a woman in a blue dress. The backing of the mini has "Caroline ??? 1814". Presented in what might be the original frame, which measures 4 3/4" by 4 1/8". The sight size is 2 3/4" by 2 1/8". Excellent condition.
