Beautifully executed drawing in soft pencil, 8 1/2" by 11 1/2" sheet, 6 1/2" by 9 1/2" inside the rectangular border drawn by the artist, and 10 1/4" by 13 5/8" as framed, signed at lower right "Davis F. Schwartz", showing a copse of trees in a hilly landscape. This drawing, which reminds of works by Ralph Holmes or Maynard Dixon, is nicely framed in a 1930's or 1940's frame. Schwartz (1879-1969) has a sizable listing in Hughes' "Artists in California 1786-1940"...

A 19th century European pencil drawing of a classical male figure seated on a drape, holding a staff and a round object, signed with initials at lower right with what appears as "MLB". There is no other hint as to the identity of the artist. The paper has no watermarks. Measurements are 9 1/2" by 7" inside the mat, 14 7/8" by 11 1/4" in inexpensive modern frame behind non glare glass.

This Autumn Landscape (13 1/2" X 19 1/4") is signed on the lower left side Francis Villeret. This oil on canvas has been cleaned and it is mounted in a new frame. Villeret was born in 1800 and died in 1866. His art can be found in many European Museums.

Indonesian drawing of three seated figures conversing at a marketplace, three white chickens offered up for sale, painted circa late 1950's or early 1960's I believe, apparently unsigned, 12" by 16 1/4" inside the mat, 17" by 21 1/4" as framed. There is an old Rotterdam, Netherlands framer's sticker on the reverse. The art somewhat reminds of the work of the important Dutch/Indonesian master artist Rudolf Bonnet (1895-1978) but I do not believe the work by him...

Huang Zhou was born in 1925 in Hebei Province. He is famous for his naturalistic paintings of people and animals. After his schooling, he ventured deep into the border areas of China to paint the ethnic minorities there. The Muslim ladies in this painting are from Kashgar prefecture, southwest of Xinjiang...

This is an original pencil signed etching by British artist Sir Frank Short.  The title is: A Lane in Arundel, it was created and printed in 1907.  The image measures 8 1/8X10 inches.  A rich impression.

Found in Florida, a PAIR of watercolor on paper paintings, each signed "H. Crouse 50", one featuring a young dark-haired woman dancing animatedly in flamenco style dress, the other featuring a young man with sombrero and traditional shoulder cloth and sandals. The works measure 14 3/4" by 10 3/4" inside the existing mats, and 22" by 18" in thin gold strip framing. The subjects might be Mexican, or Central American, or Cuban...

PAIR of gouache paintings, one 10" by 10 1/2", the other 11 1/4" by 10 1/2" (21" by 20" and 19 1/2" by 19 1/2" as identically framed in birdseye maple), each bearing a placard, one work identified as "House in Saratoga Springs", the other "Band Stand at Kinderhook". Original oil painting on panel by Rafael Duran Camps i Folguera aka Rafael Durancamps (Spain, 1891-1979). This painting is signed "Durancamps" l.l. It is also titled verso "Nieve en Ateca". An interesting, folky, oil on canvas painting of a house with stone chimney set in a lush open valley, apparently set in Salinas Valley in California, signed by artist Sharon Moree Giambrocco Ebina, who wrote a long story on the back of the canvas. In that story she explains how the painting is inspired by the movie made from the John Steinbeck book "East of Eden". She also touches on the Japanese inspiration she feels, her signature incorporating the Japanese character for "valley"...
