Oil on Masonite panel painting of a thicket of trees in the snow, 16" by 12", 19 1/4" by 15 1/2" framed, signed at lower left by artist S C Swiderski and dated there '86 with copyright symbol. The bare trees are accompanied by a lone pine or spruce which gives a bit of green color to an otherwise silvery white/blue palette. The impressionist work is very attractive and it is in excellent condition. Note how the artist used the wooden end of the brush to create a groove in the wet paint...

PAIR of pastel drawings of stone buildings in Israel, each 13 1/4" by 9 1/4" (19" by 14 3/4" in simple light wood frames), each signed "N. Kobi", one dated '87, the other '89. I do not see a listing for the artist, who seems to have been skilled with pastel. Both works are clean. The frames have wear that could possibly be sanded out.

Oil on canvas contemporary landscape of a jagged high mountain peak, trees and a large boulder catching the atmospheric light in the foreground, unframed, 36" by 24", signed at lower right with a signature that resembles "Joseph Eugene" or "Joseph Evgeny". The artist has handled dawn or sunset light to great effect, as did many of the Hudson River artists. An alpenglow lights up the peak, and a sunbeam lights up the boulder...

A circa 1960's or 1970's lithograph of two female figures, in the typically dream-like fantasy style of the noted 20th century artist LEONOR FINI (1907-1996). The work is numbered in pencil 32/200 at lower left and signed in pencil at lower right with the signature of the artist. A truly international person all her life, Fini was born in Argentina and grew up in Trieste, Italy. Soon she was in Paris, associating with figures such as Andre Breton, Max Ernst and George Balanchine...

A circa 1910 small oil on canvas landscape of a forest pond, signed at lower right "O. Sch". This 3 1/2" by 5 1/2" work (9 1/2" by 11 1/2" framed) came from a local family of German heritage. Their art, some of which I acquired, came with the family from the old country. This work has some condition issues, as the canvas over the decades has buckled, with sharp horizontal roughly parallel "ridges" now apparent, as well as craquelure...

An unframed oil on canvas landscape, 12 3/4" by 16", the subject a large lake in high country, a distant mountain in the background and tall spruce-type trees at left along the rocky shore. I have searched diligently for a signature and cannot find one, which is frustrating, as the work is certainly good enough to have been executed by a listed artist. The canvas was laid down on a board circa 1940 or so judging from the "Brownie Board" age...

Chromolithograph late 19th century print after a work by the noted German landscape artist THEODORE WEBER (1838-1907), the scene of the Italian coast, figures walking up a hillside road leading away from the sea, an ancient church steeple at left. The piece measures 18 3/4" by 12 1/2" inside the old mat, 28" by 21" in old gold frame, which shows its age with various chips and losses. Weber's oils and watercolors sell to about the $10,000 level at auctions...

Haitian art is rightly popular for its color and exotic subject matter. This little painting, 9 1/4" by 7 1/4', set into a larger quality frame/mat, 22" by 19 3/4", depicts a thatched roof hut, figures carrying items on their heads, and lush tropical mountains and vegetation. The artist signed his name "Serge Louis" and the date 1995. The painting is exceptionally clean and ready to hang on the wall.

A competently painted, luminous little work on canvas, 12" by 16" (17 1/4" by 21" framed), the subject high mountains in full fall color, likely the Rockies in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana or Idaho (or, possibly, even Canada). The artist signed the painting "C H Wells" at lower right. The painting likely dates to the 1970's or 1980's. While I do not see a listing for an artist by this name, he or she was clearly talented...

Oil on canvasboard, 12" by 16" (17" by 21" as framed), signed at lower right by artist CURT PAULSON. I do not see a listing but the artist had a skilled hand. The style reminds a bit of California desert painters William Darling or Fred Chisnall. There is impasto, vigorous brush stroke, and a grayish blue light over the scene. Apparently original whitish antiqued frame completes this ready for the wall package. Condition is excellent.

A contemporary screenprint, the imagery forming the letters for "LOVE", pencil signed at lower right and numbered 98/100 examples at lower left, by noted British illustrator and commercial artist Helen Lang. The matted print is currently housed in a white laminated wood frame, measuring 24" by 20" in that frame. GLASS IS CRACKED AT LOWER RIGHT so print will be shipped without glass. Early twentieth century impressionist painting of one of New Orleans' famous courtyard subjects, 9 1/4" by 7" as framed, signed at lower right corner "Don Juan". While an interesting name to be sure, I have not been able to find a listed artist corresponding to it. The work though is by an obviously trained and talented hand. The vintage frame makes all in all for a very satisfying little painting sure to please the New Orleans fan. The surface is soiled evenly, consistent with age. Likely...
