It is oil on canvas laid on a wood panel, signed lower right. It is in good condition. It is 7" by 9.25" and framed in an original impressionist frame with outer dimensions of 12" by 14.5". His paintings sell for up to $125,000 and his work is in museums.

A fine, large bronze animalier sculpture by Ferdinand Pautrot (1832-74). The figure represents a pair of pheasants, one perched on a gnarled barren branch while the other appears to strut along the ground. The body position of the lower bird gives the composition a great deal of movement that is often missing in classical animalier bronzes. The ground is covered in long grass that is somewhat less common than Pautrot's more characteristic rocky ground...

A portrait miniature done by Moses B. Russell and I wish I could say more about this painting or the sitter, but the original backing paper, where Russell signed and often threatened people (incorrectly) not to remove the paper, has been removed. However, the painting was clearly done by Russell and closely mirrors one in the Metropolitan Museum...

A fine miniature of a handsome gent with strawberry blond hair, painted by Henry Jacob Burch. Adding to the desirability of this example is the Burch trade card that was fitted to the back of the painting, rarely seen in his works.

Excellent condition, with an overall size of 2 3/4" by 2 1/4".

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Henry Jacob Burch was born in London in 1763. He entered the Royal Academy Schools at the age of 16, and exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1787 to 1834...

A fine miniature painting, attributed to Jeremiah Paul, of a handsome brown-eyed man in a black coat and waistcoat, white shirt and cravat. The reverse of the gilt metal pendant case has a glazed aperture containing a wreath and plait of hair, one of which is most likely the sitters and the other of a loved one. E. Grosvenor Paine provenance.

Condition of the painting and the case are both excellent, without problems...

Oil on canvas painting of a fetching young woman, 30" by 24", unframed, signed at upper right corner "George E. Harris" and dated there 1929. The artist is American painter GEORGE EDGERLY HARRIS (1898-1938). Harris was born in Delaware and appears to have most of his auto accident-shortened life in the northeastern states. He was the son of Charles X. Harris of the Noank, Connecticut art colony, and a pupil of his father and of Charles Courtney Curran...
