A classic work of 19th century American art: oil on artist's board painting of an elderly lady, apparently lost in thought, as she contemplates a bill and a paltry few coins in her palm, the proceeds from her sales of apples at two cents apiece (they seen in the right background). The 11 1/2" by 9 1/2" oval shaped painting (14" by 11 3/4" in the frame) is signed at right center "C. C. Markham" (CHARLES COLE MARKHAM, 1837-1907)...

Works by ALBERT HORATIO SLADE (1843-1922) are quite rare in the marketplace. The few that have come to auction feature coastal scenes of Los Angeles, San Diego and Ventura Counties. Prices of $8,000 and even $12,000 have been achieved on several larger works that are site-specific. Some are of great historical interest, as they document early buildings and communities. Slade was born in England and had a photography studio in Toronto, Canada by 1879. He was in San Diego by 1887...

Fine early pencil drawing on wove paper, the subject a distant view of Windsor Castle and the Thames River (favorite subject of so many, many artists), signed at lower right "James M. Hart" and dated there 1855. This is a rather early work of JAMES MACDOUGAL HART (1828-1901) of later Hudson River School fame. Hart's major large scale landscape paintings have reached into six figures at auction, and sales in the tens of thousands are not unusual...

"The British Count" Oil on canvas, 25" x 30" unframed Jonathan Pratt was a Midlands artist working in Birmingham. He was an extremely diverse artist painting genre, figure and portraits, as well as street scenes, rural and coastal views in Britain, France and Algiers. He studied in Birmingham and exhibited a total of 279 works there between 1864-1915, the latter being posthumously exhibited...

A Very Fine Korean Bird/Flower Hanging Painting by 심전(心田), 안중식 (安中植) (1861~1919) Korean, late 19th century, hanging scroll/an Original Box with 安中植) written on a label. Painted in ink and color with a duck, sorghum, peonies and camellia flowers on silk, with inscription with poem, signature-心田, two seals, 安中植 and 心田 each painting. It is in very good condition but some it measures 81.5x27.5cm

Joseph Pennell 1857-1926 American This is a fairly scarce etching by American artist Joseph Pennell. The title is: Chelsea, No. II, it was created and printed in 1886, in an edition of only 20. Hand signed in pencil by the artist. The image measures 6 1/2X9 1/2 inches. This imag appears in the Wuerth catalog as image number 114. Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet. Chelsea Bridge is a bridge over the River Thames in west London.

Original 19th century albumen photograph by Jean-Pascal Sebah (1872-1947) depicting the old Cairo and the island of Rhoda (the photograph is titled in the plate l.l "Vieux Caire et Ile de Rowdah"). Signed in the plate l.r. Jean-Pascal Sebah was the son of Pascal Sebah (1823-1886). He continued the family studio in 1888 in Constantinople. The studio specialized in scenes of Egypt and the Middle East.

English Artist G.Sutliffe “Off The English Coast” Oil 21x30” Is a beautiful oil on canvas of a ship in a storm.

For the collector of rare, and desirable early Florida art: a watercolor painting titled in pencil lower left "Old Spanish House/St. Augustine", dated 1881, apparently not signed. The work, paper laid on a board, measures 9 3/4" by 13 3/4". An early 20th century 13 1/2" by 17 1/2" frame (not shown) accompanies the watercolor. On the reverse side of the board in modern times someone wrote "Attributed to William Turner Dannat" but this is highly unlikely...

It was created and printed in 1882. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper. This printing is the first state of V. The image measures 10X15 inches. Pencil signed and dated in the lower right border.

Oil on canvas painting titled at lower left "Morn. nr. Frinsbury Kent", signed at lower right "Alf. Bennett 87" (and titled again and signed again by the artist on the reverse canvas), 20" by 30" (27" by 36" as framed). The scene feature a filled hay barge at left with two figures aboard, two houses in the middle distance, and tall ships in the far distance. Frinsbury is in southeastern England, east south east of London, not far from the mouth of the River Thames...
