This charming covered jar in translucent yellow glass is topped with an opaque yellow pear with green leaf. Made in the 1890s by Salviati. The body of the jar and lid are ribbed and have a lovely iridescence. The bottom of the base has multi-point pontil marks. It stands 6"high by 4" diameter. A similar fruit-topped lid is shown in Carol Osbourne's "Venetian Glass of the 1890s: Salviati at Stanford University" P. 126, Plate 137. The piece is in excellent condition.

Saiho-hinagata (or hinagata), the sewing sample which is a miniature sample to learn sewing. It was invented by an educator for saving time and textile using a special measuring rod. It was practiced in a girl's school from Meiji 7, 1874). Reduced scales were one-third in the beginning and one-quarter, one-half, one-fifth etc. The sewing technique was exactly same as the real size in details. Saiho-hinagata was designated as a significant tangible folk cultural asset...

Chinese set of two oxbow chairs and rectangular stand, made of extremely heavy and dark hardwood possibly zitan, carved with filigree, mid 20th century. Size of chairs: 39" high x 30" wide x 23 1/2" deep. Size of stand: 29" high x 15 1/4" wide x 20" deep.

Chinese carved overlay Peking Glass vase with cranes in flight amongst lily pads and tall grasses. In excellent condition with just some normal age related wear/mirco abrasions on the bottom, it measures 11.25" high (28.6 cm).

Carved Wood Bank in the form of a Victorian Mailbox. Carved from a solid piece of mahogany(?) with a slot at the top and a hinged door opening to a cavity (no key)

A very rare 5 panel bride’s noren. The bottom of the curtain has a lovely delicate aqua wash. Traditionally the bride would hang this curtain in the doorway for about 2 weeks after she was married to announce that she was a member of the new family and that she has taken her husband’s family crest. There are a few minor age spots in the cream/off white area, but otherwise the curtain is in excellent condition...

Beautiful Chinese brush pot made from a beautiful deep reddish hardwood with a beautiful woodgrain and shine. Very sturdy and attractive. Size: 4.5" height, 4.75" width

A Moser footed master salt with tooled and gilded rim. The colorless salt has a polished pontil mark and is 3.25 inches tall and 3.25 inches in diameter. The salt is decorated with heavy gold enameling. There is wear to the gold on the edge of the foot and on the tooled rim.

Japanese Meiji period scroll painting by the artist, Katsuyo. Ink and color on paper, hanging scroll. The painting depicts a beauty in the rain, holding her umbrella. Signed “Katsuyo”, with one signature seal of the artist. The painting is in very good condition, however, the mounting is broken.

Measuring 63 x 88 inches (160 x 224 cm), this hand-embroidered wedding shawl from the remote region of Indus Kohistan in northeast Pakistan is estimated to date to the mid or late 20th century. Worked in extremely fine cross stitch and satin stitch in silk thread in interlocking geometric motifs and embellished with beaded edges, a textile such as this may take up to six months to produce. This shawl is embroidered on a black cotton ground and is in excellent condition.

SALE The scarf is probably NH and is dated and also has an initial, Al. It is handwoven and is 38" on two sides and then 47" across the back. It is 1/2 of a square, triangle. It is in perfect condition. The colors are beige, brown, and tan. This is a museum-quality Shaker scarf.

Vintage Chinese Gilt Silver Filigree Jadeite & Tourmaline Bracelet Marked "Silver"

The bracelet is 3.5 inches (9 cm) in length by 1.18 inches (3 cm) wide. The inner circumference is 2.3 inches (6 cm). The jadeite are 21.22 mm by 10.5 mm wide. The tourmaline range from 18.43 mm to 20.43 mm in length by 10.32 mm by 12.96 mm wide. It weighs 38 gram.

Yuzo Kondo is one of the more recognized names in the world of modern Japanese pottery of the 20th century. Though known mainly for his sometsuke creations (blue and white porcelain), he did not settle on this style until well into his potting career that lasted nearly seven decades. A fragment of washi with mending patches, groud paper as well as mending patches are kakishibu (persimmon tannin) dye for waterproof and sturdiness. It has several layers of used old washi. The original usage is not clear. Late 19th to early 20th century (Meiji). 40cm x 32cm

Mashiko ware black glaze pitcher. H. 10" x Body Dia. 6". Small chip on rim repaired in lacquer & synthetic gold. Purchased in 1965. Mashiko wares from Tochigi Prefecture have gained a worldwide reputation since potter Shoji Hamada settled there in 1923. It's been said that such handles as the one seen on this piece, and not typically Japanese, were introduced by Hamada and by Bernard Leach into Mashiko and other pottery Japanese pottery towns...
