Wall vase for ikebana flower arrangement, to be hung at one of the vertical beams of the tokonoma. Brown stoneware with white inclusions, splash of greenish glaze. Metal eyelet through hole in the back for hanging the vase up (new replacement).
Signature in bottom: Jinsai.

Shigaraki ware, Japan, mid-20th century, before 1977, when Jinsai changed his name.

H 5 - 5-1/4 inches, diam 3-1/4 inches

A Chinese duan inkstone housed in a fitted carved box, most probably for a scholar. The box is carved with birds on flowering branches. The box sits on four corner mounts. The stone is carved with a poem. I believe that the box is zitan. (Note: Some of the pictures have been lightened to show the detail.)

Size: The stone is 4" wide by 5-1/2" high. The box is 5" wide by 6-1/2" high

A Chinese shoushan seal carved in its natural form. On one side it shows a man riding a donkey, with another kneeling gathering items under a large tree. The reverse reveals a home in the distance. On this side, there is also a four character carved mark. This seal is carved all around using its natural colours and striations for features within the carving. The base holds the seal.
