18th c India Hindu temple statue of a deity, this was carved in sandstone and painted countless times as is usual with Hindu temple sculpture . The paint has preserved the delicate carving and there is a iron bolt on the under side of the figure where it was mounted to the structure of the temple. A pair of Japanese Kutani sake cups with scalloped rims and enameled decoration of Phoenix birds, Paulownia leaves and the Tokugawa mon or crest, the interior with auspicious symbols. The Tokugawa clan reigned Japan as Shoguns from 1603 to 1867. Kutani Fuku (happiness)mark in iron red, a mark in use during the Tokugawa period. Height "1 2/3 / 4.2 cm. Condition: each with a short hairline from the rim.
