Japanese Musha Ningyo of Shoki the Demon Queller, made by Beishu. Beishu has Mukei Bunkazai status (Important Intangible Cultural Property). His Shoki shows great craftsmanship, with silk hair, glass eyes, gofun face and hands, with sumptuous silk brocade. This magnificent sculpture reaches the level of the master work of Beishu, whose work is found in museums and important collections of the Showa Period in Japan. Signed and dated 1960. 21 inches (53.25cm) high.

A vintage Japanese Tansu called Honbako (book chest) made of dark stained Momiji (Maple) and Tochinoki (Horse Chestnut) woods with an interior made of Kiri (Paulownia). Single hinged door secures a spacious area where books were kept and 5 filing drawers where flats and documents were stored. Below the door is one large drawer where valuables were kept. All original bronze hardware.

A 1920's Wakasa lacquer clam trinket box. Both sides match and the two pieces fit together perfectly. Dating from the 1920's, it measures 4.75" across, 2.25" high, 3.75" front to back. Wakasa craftsman developed the process of layering lacquer coats of different colors during the Edo period.

A pair of elegant small mirror image Chinese famille rose garlic mouth bottle vases each decorated with a design of bands of stylized flower shapes at the mouth over a ruyi head border. The sides of the vases painted with luscious peony blooms on which two exotic birds perch, all over rockwork and key pattern band.

Japanese early Showa Period comb. The comb has the design of traditional Japanese bells with red cord attached. The bells are done in high relief, one in silver lacquer one in gold lacquer and the third in bluish-green shell inlays. The comb is signed by artist. The comb measures 4 1/4" wide, 2 3/16" tall and 7/16" thick.

Charming Ceramic Clay Garden Elephant. Elephant is green with blue variations on saddle sitting on Elephant's back. Saddle also has a floral design with cream lining and provides a flat top for ideal placement of garden plant. Beautifully aged, this elephant has a playful countenance, with trunk curled to one side and leaf like tale resting against back side. Chinese low bowl done in famille verte with a reticulated rim done in a dark blue glaze. The plate shows 4 men enjoying outdoor activities by a lake in a mountainside setting. The underside contains a red Lingzhi fungus mark.

Hand-woven silk sakiori obi (sash) whose weft is bunch of mixed color of silk yarn and warp is off-white silk yarn. Generally sakiori is hand-woven of recycled strips from old cloth for wefts , however we call the one also sakiori whose wefts are bunch of yarns.
