Rare Work of Munjado Calligraphy by Kim Ki Chang aka Unbo (1913 - 2001). Despite being deaf, Unbo was one of Korea's most beloved 20th Century artists. His works are now sought by museums and collectors internationally. In this original signed offset print, Unbo gives us a dynamic rendering of the ancient style of figurative munjado calligraphy. The bird leaping out of the center character adds powerful life to the piece. 25.5 x 19.5 inches, 65 x 50 cm.

The is a very rare large Koi vase created by a master. The koi are large and much finer than most ever seen on this style of vase. The vase is 9 1/2 tall and 11 1/4 inches wide. Rims are silver with an old Jungin stamp. Condition of this vase is excellent.

4 pieces of Nara Uchiwa whose history dates back to Nara period (A.D.710~794). It began as manual side line work of the Shinto priest of Kasuga Taisha Shrine in Nara. The traditional motifs (Tenpyo Moyo) such as peonix, deer, kylin (imaginary animal), dragon, Parrot etc. These four (originally five) were made by Ikeda Gankodo which is only existing maker of it in Nara. A large pair of Chinese ceramic fu dogs with a Sancai ware "three colors" palette in green, brown, and blue with natural clay white in a transparent crackle glaze. The large pair of fu dogs stand opposite each other, eyes faced forward, their mouths slightly open in a snarling grin. Rare woman’s skirt (pukhang) from the Kachin/Jingpo ethnic group, Northeast Burma. This is two panels with supplementary weft trim on the ends made of dog hair. Mostly natural dye and indigo. It is quite a durable weave with denim like feel. There is some staining, one small hole as well as a bit of dye bleeding. I could only find examples this in “Textiles of the Hill Tribes of Burma”: Michael C. Howard (plate 107) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art: Accession Number: 2002.312...

A small cast brass figurative weight of a man with a walking stick carrying a powder keg on his head. These weights were used by goldsmiths for weighing gold dust. This weight is of the Akan peoples of Ghana known as Ashani. Measures about 2.75 inches high. Dates early 20th century

Zhaoqing limestone of off-white color with darker inclusions and pinkish tinged areas. Superb scholar’s object, beautiful patina on the surface of the stone, flattened bottom, fitted rosewood stand. Height with stand 3 1/2 inches, length with stand 8 1/4 inches.
