India 19th c Orissa lost wax molded oil lamp with fine wax braiding and bird finals. Size H 5.5" w 6"

Four Zohiko lacquer plates. Colorful leaf decoration sparsely applied on black ground with almost iridescent effect with gold and silver maki-e and red details. Zohiko marks in gold lacquer on the flat bottoms without foot rims. 20th century. Very good condition with only light rubbing on the bottoms (likely easily polished out by a professional.) 20th century. Diameters 7 3/4 inches (19.685 cm). Fine lot of two silver items, incl. a broad bracelet and a large silver Concho plaque with central torquise, Indian, Navaho. c. mid. 20th. century.

Attractive pieces, the Concho with sterling silver stamps, both are in fine 925 sterling silver.

Weight: 94 grams! The bracelet is c. 61-62 mm. and the Conchoo c. 77 x 63 mm.

Set of three Chinese Qingbai celadon glaze bowls with incised design on the inside. The outside glazed the same, but left blank. The foot rims and bases as well as the top rims left unglazed.

Size: All bowls are approximately 6" diameter by 2-3/8" high

Condition: Two of the bowls are in good condition with the exception of some minor kiln imperfections due to firing. The third bowl has a rim crack and also a chip. Refer to pictures.

A watercolor mixed media (some pencil and perhaps gouache) painting of a weathered Native American or other classic male image of the Southwest, signed at lower left "J W Kolstad". The piece measures 10 1/2" by 10 1/2" inside the black mat and 18" by 17" as framed. Reminiscent of some works by Remington or Lon Megargee, this is a very satisfying southwestern piece. Condition is excellent. The date of execution would likely be 1960's or 1970's.

Fleece-lined and hand-made using the old fashioned traditional Chinese methods, only the mid 20th century fabric of the lining and ears identify these shoes as a later made at a later time period. They were probably made by a dotting grandmother and were well worn by a young child.

Silk kimono decorated in yuzen technique with design of flowering stalks. Bamboo, cherry blossom and marigold. On the stalks small beetles crawl up. Outlines of flowers in silver. Inside partly lined with red silk. Japan, Showa period, mid 20th century.
Length 66 in. (168 cm), sleeve to sleeve 49 ½ in. (126 cm).
Few light stains, one torn seam at sleeve (ca. 2 in.), one small moth hole in seam of other sleeve, otherwise good condition.

Japanese vase of convex shape, Totai decoration of a bird and a butterfly among leaves and berry bushes. The motif created by thin metal threads is filled in with colored lacquer and polished. The brown lacquer background is carved as to resemble tree bark (totai). This complicated technique for decoration on porcelain was in use in Japan in the 1920’s and 30’s.The base with old paper label, indistinct letters in blue and the word “Lacquer”. String instrument ("saranghi") made of wood, decorated on its top with a human figure. Fine dark brown glossy patina. Himalayan region, early 20th century. Height: 42 cm. The sarangi is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Very good condition. NOTE: collected in Nepal in 1974.

A black & white photograph by the Vietnamese photographer Huong Ky, showing two men from an ethnic minority smoking. With blind stamp "Huong Ky Hanoi". Dimension: 17.6 cm x 23.7 cm. Condition: margin with little partial yellowing, one corner with tiny dog's ear.

Fire lighting implement consisting of a piece of iron, pieces of fabric and a fragment of flint stone, the whole set being contained in a rattan box. This implement belonged formerly to a member of a tribe located in Palawan Island, South West of the Philipino Archipelago. Such tribe, like a few others in this island, has in some aspects remained in the Stone Age. It was put under the protection of the Philipino Government some 40 years ago. 9 Chinese carved hardstone animal figures, including 4 elephants, one penguin, a dog, what seems to be a seal or a dog, a bear and a rabbit. All carved from hardstone in different colors.
