This is a silk meisen haori ( jacket ). Meisen textile is a kind of pongee silk which is machine woven and has kasuri ( ikat ) pattern. Meisen kimono was very popular among young women as a casual kimono between 1920s and 1950s and many of them have eye-catching bold and contemporary design. Mid Showa period ( ca. 1940s~50s ). This is a silk meisen Haori which is heiyo-gasuri. As for the heiyo-gasuri, warps and wefts are stencil printed separately and then machine-woven. Heiyo-gasuri made it possible to make more vivid, colorful and free design. It has reddish brown flowers with gray and yellow in beige ground. It has silk lining with beautiful stencil-printed flowers pattern and hand-braided cords in front. In excellent condition. Mid 20th century. 128cm x 78cm
A wonderful etched bakelite box that simulates wood. There are scenes on all sides, top and bottom. Stamped on the bottom. Unfortunately, the piece is mottled with stains and a gentle wiping removed some ink. The lid is actually darker than previous pictures ( see last photo). Price is reduced + sold as is. Pair Japanese Kutani Porcelain Scroll Weights, Fuchin, hanging on the both ends of bottom bar attached to the Scroll when you hanging Scroll, 1 3/4" high, 1 1/2" wide, 9 1/2" high for maximum heights, with goldish yellow Tassels, signed "Kutani" in red on the the bottom, condition is good.
Japanese round wood Hibachi with Copper Lining, carved out of whole width of tree, 9 1/2" diameter for top rim, 8 1/2" high, thin crack on one(1) side.
