This pretty Pink Sharon, aka Cabbage Rose, depression glass 9 1/2 inches wide X 6 3/4 inches across Oval Serving or Vegetable Bowl was made by Federal Glass from 1935 to 1939. Circa 1925 antique or vintage (about 100 years old!) framed ornate manuscript style ode to the home and house, from the writings of poet and author Maurine Hathaway, with gilt background and intriguing spots of color, measuring 10 1/2" by 9 1/2" fully opened out. The piece is hinged in the middle so is meant to stand on its own on a table top. I do not believe the color and gilt hand applied, though, it gives that appearance. The inspiration is clearly from medieval manuscripts...

An Indonesian mask carved in the form of a male figure. The mask is carved and painted with expressive eye brows and mustache. These masks are often used in Bali and Java during religious ceremonies performing the legend of the Hindu gods.

Set of 6 Chinese jade and hardstone musical instruments, each on a matching rosewood stand. Instruments include a drum with a pair of drumsticks, gong with striker, cymbals, reed flute and 2 string instruments, one of them (erhu) with a bow. Very well made, in great condition. Length of the erhu 4 inches.

Green cloisonne vase with scrolling leaf pattern. Circular mark and signed SATO on the base. Excellent condition no scratches or dents. Taisho/Showa Period, circa 1930-1950. It measures 1.75" opening, 2.5" base 7.25".

Colonial Teak and Brass Campagne Letter box, with fitted interior compartments . The center section lifts out . Large and heavy at 18 pounds . Hard to find these with such a nice interior. the one loss is the front brass corner but a back corner could be moved to the front so its not noticable. Size 18" by 10" by 12" and 18 pounds.

Rare jacket back panel from the remote Miao Jiupang group from Jiahe County, Guizhou province (see last enlargement), with purple embroidered pattern between the spaces in the tin decoration. This style of decoration is unique to this group and very difficult to make, as every tiny bit of tin has to be individually cut and crimped. Recently acquired from a private Hong Kong collector, these are the first examples I have send of these I have seen in the past 15 years...

Hard paste decorated Meissen porcelain cup and saucer made in Dresden, Germany in the late 19th Century. The overall decoration is of springtime floral bouquets and garlands with gold leaf decoration around the lip of the cup as well as the rim of the saucer. The fact that the gold is not worn away or chipped indicates that this cup and saucer is in near mint condition. The handle of the cup is fashioned in the form of a swans neck and beak...

A vintage Hmong textile from Laos, carefully crafted into a cushion cover backed with soft black pig suede. The cushion measures 11 1/4" x 15 1/2" with a 100% polyester insert. The textile itself consists of machine embroidery and reverse applique with some intricately worked hand embroidery as accents. The spirals symbolize longevity. Estimated age mid to late 20th century. Condition is overall great with some very minor fraying.

The natural ash glaze gradates from a light-glossy grey on one side to a blueish grey on the other. The foot of the bowl is unglazed at the base and shows traces of ferrous-rich clay in the form of an orangish hue. The mouth of the piece is somewhat oblong giving it an attractive shape and the rough texture and ash deposits in places give this bowl a weighty presence...

Sigi is short for Sigfredo Pineda, who set up his own workshop in the 1950's and is still producing modernist jewelry. He apprenticed under Castillo, not William Spratling as he was born somewhat later, in 1929. He is the sole surviving member of the Taxco silversmith artist colony startedby William Spratling in the 30's and 40's. We love the clean and modern design of these wonderful coiled cufflinks...

This is a yurt ornament made by Lakai Uzbeks living in the northern region of Afghanistan. It is estimated to date to the mid to late 20th century and is in excellent condition. The embroidery is satin stitch in silk thread forming traditional geometric designs with a cotton paisley lining on the reverse. The textile measures 11.8 x 86.5 cm including the elaborate tassels and crown knots.

An elegant sterling silver small letter opener in Kirk’s “Repousse” pattern. The wide end is beautifully decorated with a pattern of roses and foliage against a stippled background. The flat edge is marked off so it can be used as a ruler. The back is marked with the Kirk hallmarked used 1932-61.

Origin: America, ca. 1950. Condition: excellent, very light wear to the first few 1/16” makers on the ruler at the pointed tip. Weight: 26.5 grams.

Kokeshi, wooden folk toy of NE Japan. Height: 8.5". This is an example of the "Yamagata-kei" tradition of Yamagata Prefecture. This kokeshi was made in the town of Toune by the artisan Yamaguchi Shuuichi, who was born on June 21, 1924 (Taisho 13.) It is not dated, but was most likely made during the 1970's or early 1980's.
