A finely carved lime box, its body in the form of a cone surmounting a flaring cylinder, decorated with three levels of an elaborate geometric design which is changing at each level. The stopper itself is decorated with two human heads back to back surmounting the neck adorned with a necklace. This fine pair of Italian lamps came with a store tag attached to one of the switches that said, "Quackenbush Co. Patterson NJ. This was a local department store that existed from the 1800's to the early 1950's, a fact which provides us a date. Measuring 15.5", this Archimede Seguso masterpiece is in excellent condition, unmarked.

A child's shirt front from Ghazni province, circa early to mid 1960s, probably from Jaghori or Katawaz. Densely embroidered in extremely fine brick and satin stitch in silk thread on purple silk, the lozenge patterns are framed by Bokhara couching, where the metallic threads are laid in parallel and then fastened with tiny stitches, forming a relief pattern.
