One of the largest tablet or brick seals, we've ever offered. Bifacial tablet seals can normally be dated to around the 3rd. millenium BC. This is so delicately carved that it could be made somewhat later in the 2nd. mill. BC.

This is a highly detailed Japanese Satsuma vase from the great Meiji artist Shizan. Look close at the images because the fine detail is as good as most of the finer pieces and easily looked over. The vase stands 4 3/4 inches tall. The vase is in excellent condition. Price is firm.

Nobori banners, carps, warrior's Yoroi and Kabuto helmets, samurai dolls and swords were all a part of the display used for Boy's Day (renamed Children's Day) on May 5th in Japan. Late 19c Chinese Blackwood or possibly Zitan wood brush pot in the classic style with smooth sides and a raised ring at mouth and bottom having 3 low standing low profile feet with drain hole in center bottom of pot. Carved from a single piece of wood, it still retains its original plug which is easily removed for drainage. In excellent condition commensurate with age, it measures 4-5/8" high x 4-1/8" diameter.

Large Chinese Ming dynasty wide-mouthed globular form guan jar with short, vertical collar-like neck and wide angled mouth covered overall in a dark brown/black crackled glaze that coats the interior and ends at the base. A wood water basin was nicely carved in shape of a lotus leaf with a lotus pond.
It was preserved in very good condition by nice brownish patina.
Some of the seeds in the lotus pond were still movable when some were sticked but nothing is missing.
