A fine and rare 19th century Japanese cloisonne bi-fold table screen in the Kyoto school of Namikawa, depicting a ho bird and dragon. The finely coiled wiring is gilded, as are the back panels of the screen. Each cloisonne panel is wood framed, joined with hinges of silver. Fully opened, the screen measures 8" high and 9" wide.

Condition: Quite fine, with only wear commensurate with age.

A fine bear climbing a rocky ledge decorates this large bronze vase. It bears an impressed mark, untranslated, on the base. The patina is medium brown, the condition is excellent. Height 14.5", Diameter 10"

A fine and very rare 'Transitional' vase painted in inky blue depicting a mountain landscape in classical scholars' taste. A rare 18th/19th Century carved agate snuff bottle with, possibly later, silver and rose quartz stopper. On the stopper is inscribed the Shanghai silversmiths "Wen Yuan" who are recorded as having traded from the Jiaqing (1796-1820) reign through until the Republic period (1912- 1949). Condition - excellent - there is a shallow chip on top, next to the mouth (please view enlargement 11) no further damages and no restoration. 5cm (2inches) high; 4.8cm (1.9 inches) wide.

A square Chinese cloisonne enamel gau box with four arched apertures and gold gilt strap loops for personal carrying. Richly decorated on a yellow ground with designs of formal lotus and foliage, the top side panel has a dark blue fylfot. The back panel, with the large red Shou-type character, slides up to open. Made for the Tibetan market, this dates early to mid 19th century, but could possibly be late 18th. Measures 3.35 inches high, 3" across, 1" deep.

Large remains of the ornament part of ancient Japanese hollow unglazed terracotta figure from the Kofun period (3rd-7th century) so-called ‘Haniwa'. 20 x 14 x 4.5 cm (7.87 x 5.51 x 1.77in). Still left original paint as a rare piece. Bonded repair as seen. (Clearly from the back side but not from the front side.) Handmade removable wire hanging hook is attached.

Japanese Meiji to Showa period oval form ikebana basket (hanakago) hand-woven from reddish bamboo with natural gnarled wood branches incorporated. Four strips rise from each side of the shoulder and are twisted together to form the high loop handle. Round mouth and base. 18” high with handle (9 1/4" high excluding handle); about 10” diameter. Late 19th to early 20th century. Very good overall condition with minor wear. From a Scottsdale, Arizona estate.
