A pretty porcelain figure of Guanyin seated on a lotus 'throne' attractively painted with bright famille rose / fencai enamels. This item was probably made in south China during the reign of the Jiaqing Emperor (1796-1820). Condition - there has been extensive restoration and re-painting. A pair woman's Paduka in fish form, made of hardwood and inlaid with brass wire. Base inscribed "Hindu bath sandals" and "Anna Broadwood". A similar pair in the Bata Shoe Museum Collection in Toronto. Dimension: c. 22 cm long, 8.8 cm wide, total height: 8.4 cm. Condition: few traces of usage, a short section with missing wire (see picture no. 2).
A very unique Black cloisonne dish for jewelry, it features a glass insert over a beautiful translucent hard stone. It is marked China on underside in black. This late 19th century masterpiece is sure to please, as it it is uncommon to find these ring dishes with the original glass insert. It measures 4" in diameter.

Antique Tibetan gilt bronze Dakini, with traces of silver, inlay of coral and turquoise. In her hands are a raised kappala (or skull cup) filled with the elixir of life, and a curved blade. She is dancing on top of corpses to show her rule over ignorance and ego. Her lotus pedestal is made of gilt copper.
The Dakini are wrathful female deities often shown nude with long, flowing hair and glowering expression...

Finely cast bronze censer on four linked feet with very elegant flower décor on the body and fretwork on the rim, patinated in a rich brown. Bottom decorated in low relief with repeating, extremely fine fretwork of faces. Seal on bottom: Dai-Nihon Bunsei nen Seimin sei. Japan, Edo period, early 19th century.

A rare stucco sculpture which originally had three heads on this Deity, two are remaining and part of a third one remains. This type of Diety had it's influence from the Gandhara also was a jewel of Buddhist civilization. Scholars of Gandhara traveled east to India and China and were influential in the development of early Mahayana Buddhism.

19th century Chinese incense stick holder made out of rootwood in a shape of a buffalo with the front of its body turned to the right. Very clever piece with minimal carving beautifully capturing the essence of the animal, graceful flow to the natural lines of the root. 19th century Chinese rootwood carving of an ascetic dancing on the back of a turtle. The figure depicted is that of lohan Lu Ao who lived on the back oh a large turtle for 3 thousand years. Very clever piece beautifully capturing the happy attitude of the advanced being, graceful flow to the natural lines of the root defining his clothes, natural bumps on the surface perfectly imitating torn clothes. Beautiful mellow patina, very pleasant feel of age to the piece...
A Nyonya plate with a painting of a Sage. It is unusual to find human figures on Nyonya ware. Makers mark stamped on the bottom of the plate. Nyonya wares are over-glaze polychrome enamelled porcelains made in Jingdezhen in the Kiangsi province of China for the Straits Chinese, or Babas, whose female counterparts are called Nyonyas, hence the term Nyonya ware. Nyonya wares were mainly reserved for festive occasions and special functions. Size. Diameter 21cm. H. 5cm.
