Antique 19th century Chinese Qing Dynasty extremely well carved ornate gilt wood figure of a laughing Buddha – Budai.

This seated deity wears a loose robe parted in front, revealing his large, protruding belly. His left hand resting on a raised knee, grasping a peach fruit string his right hand is holding the string of a cloth bag at his side.

The Chinese god of longevity is depicted standing holding a peach branch laden with fruit in his left hand. The peach is the symbol of immortality. The artist has represented Shoulao slightly bent by the weight of his years, his gait is hesitant and his step seems reduced and slow. The left arm rests on the kidneys to relieve the pain. The details are finely sculpted, the hairs of the beard are precisely incised. The facial expression is well rendered...

Small statue of Buddha, in monk's robes, sitting cross-legged on an elevated lotus throne, holding a bowl in his left hand, his right hand in protecting and blessing posture (abhaya mudra). The statue was cast in the style of the Liao dynasty Buddha images. Bronze, with fine age patina. Qing Dynasty, 18th century. Slight abrasion due to age, otherwise very good condition.

A lovely larger figure of the seated Guanyin on a Lion, finely gilt and laquered, China, Late Qing Dynasty, 19th. century.

The figure was carved in hardwood with a very serene expression and with respect to tiny details. She is seated on a temple Lion with an elaborate hair dress and lawish gilt, with a stylized rock in red as base.

A very nice early carving and highly unusual! Buddha is depicted as a crowned king seated on his double Lotus Throne held by a dragon below and with a great flaming halo behind, carved with dragons.

The carving can be dated to the late Ming-early Qing dynasty, c. 17th. century.

A fine root wood figure depicting an aged Daoist Immortal, holding a ruyi scepter in one hand and standing on a high rock surrounded by waves in an imaginary sea . A serene QING DYNASTY HAND CARVED GENUINE TURQUOISE DEITY WITH A BABY, ca. 1850 She is draped in long robes fluttering at the sleeves, her hair in a fine chignon. The turquoise of this divine statuette is of high quality, with even coloration. Dimensions without the wooden base are 8 cm x 3.5 cm. Comes with the custom made wooden base.

Deity probably Taoist in soapstone. The god is standing, brandishing the Ying and the Yang. It must refer to a specific character and a story or legend. The work is finely executed and the style of the carving is unusual, cartoonish. In addition, the artist allowed himself to cheat by abnormally moving the left ear too close to the eye so that, seen from the front, the face is balanced. Antique pair of Chinese Shi (fu-lions). Carved of wood and lacquered red. These traditional guardians were placed on either side of an important door to guard against dangerous spiritual elements and people. They are male (with his paw on a ball) and female (with a cub).
