Early 19th century lacquered wood netsuke of a boy climbing onto a huge double gourd. Nice subject (most probably a reference to a rebus), excellent face with a wide smile. This is charming Netsuke, hand-carved during the 19th century in Japan, that depicts a Seated Man, who is beating on a Drum, while stroking his long beard with his left hand.
