The Kangxi(康熙）period is the day when the ceramic industry ruined at the last Ming dynasty had been rebuild, and many excellent pieces had been produced at both government kiln and folk kiln. This piece has picture of flushou (福禄寿）and the superlative seal mark of folk kiln on the back. Used for grinding ink sticks to make ink for painting and calligraphy. These two palettes were fashioned on the potter’s wheel from dense, thick porcelain. The upper surface is left unglazed for ink grinding. The circular grinding area is slightly concave and is surrounded by a channel for water used in the ink-making process. Both are incised with a design of stylized bats encircling the perimeter of the body and glazed with a deep, vibrant cobalt blue...

Offered is a lovely and rare Chinese porcelain octagonal saucer, dating to the Kangxi period, circa 1720. It measures about 4 3/8 inches or 11 cm across. A good early Qing dynasty 18th century Kangxi blue base white flower motif, base with leave mark, good condition no damage, size: 28 cm diameter.

This bowl is decorated overall in various colors of overglaze enamels both inside and out. The base shows the original blue-green clear glaze with only the footring exposed, revealing the white paste and having some sand adhering from the firing. Made for the Thai market, the bowl's exterior displays images of Thepanom and Norasingh against a black enamel ground with stylized flames...

An export blue and white plate decorated with a bird and floral patterns. Kangxi period (1662-1722). Marked with an Artemisia leaf. Diameter 27 cm. The silver handle was added in 1854 by the wellknown Dutch silversmith J.M. van Kempen in Utrecht(later in Voorschoten). In the 19th century it was very fashionable in The Netherlands to add silver mounts, lids and handles to antique porcelain objects. Silvermarks: walking lion (silver grade 835), minerva head, maker's mark and year letter U for 1854...

The decoration of five fu dogs is painted in clear, rich tones of cobalt blue characteristic of the Kangxi period. The playful creatures are prancing among stylized ribbons, clouds and flames in a design that fills the entire interior base. The upward, slightly flaring sides are decorated and the thin rim is protected by a narrow bronze band that appears to have been applied shortly after the piece was made...

An antique bronze rain drum with natural patina from the F Knoll Collection. Country of origination is Laos. Top features a bas relief in the concentric circles with families of stacking frogs on each of four positions. Elephant figurals shown marching up to each handle. The center displays a 12 pointed sun.
