Rare Khmer 12th/13th Century Glazed Stoneware Covered Jar

This rare and unusual jar was made around the late 12th to early 13th century. On first sight it appears cylindrical, but upon removing the cover it is clear that it is not, both body and cover being a little rectangular. Fabulous antique Chinese table apron textile with 4 gold dragons, (originally had nine), above water on a blue silk background with auspicious Buddhist symbols and a two inch floral border of peonies, irises, and butterflies in blues and white, the border possible was added at a later date. Excellent condition dating from the 19th century. Measures 62" wide by 36" long.

1600s or earlier

This figure has old losses to both forearms. The features are worn and it is blackened overall from incense and candle smoke, but it has a pleasant, soft patina. A metal nimbus was originally attached to the back with a small strip of metal that still remains. Acquired in Kyoto in the early 1970s.

A rare brushpot caved in coconut. On one side 1 temple surrounded by 1 dragon with a fish tail (Makara) and a fish. On the other side 2 dragons surrounding the sacred pearl which curiously has the shape of an inverted heart. A fine Chinese scholar's agate brusher washer with many of the stems and leaves worked away from the vessel in an open worked manner. The stone is a translucent light grey to almost clear color with the stems and leaves having light russet colors terminating in the leaves to an orange hue. Super fine old wool pangden cloth- all hand spun wool and natural dyes. This piece is an exceptionally large piece consisting of 5 panels, circa 40 to 50 years old. Tatougami which was used at the pawnshop for wrapping pawned items. The name of the shop is "koyama Shichi-ten" and it has the shop's logo "小" in the square. This is an authentic nephrite bead from the Warring States period decorated on all four sides with a meandering design, bracketed by inverted "t" shapes. It measures some 3-1/4" in length and is perforated it's entire length, suitable for suspension or wearing. Some calcification is noted.

Large remains of the ornament part of ancient Japanese hollow unglazed terracotta figure from the Kofun period (3rd-7th century) so-called ‘Haniwa'. 20 x 14 x 4.5 cm (7.87 x 5.51 x 1.77in). Still left original paint as a rare piece. Bonded repair as seen. (Clearly from the back side but not from the front side.) Handmade removable wire hanging hook is attached.
