Onigawara, Roof Tile End Caps, of fired clay with motifs of Daikoku's Hammer and Tama, the Buddhist Jewel of Wisdom. H. 37cm(14.5") x W.56cm(22"0 x D.11cm(4.5"). Excellent condition from Meiji Era. The region of Ogi in west-central Japan was a well-known center of roof tile prodcution, and continues this trade today.

Height: 10 1/8" (25.7 cm). Condition: very good, two frits on rim. This is an early and very well painted example of Straits Chinese porcelain.

A Japanese woven bamboo reed ikebana basket. Of small size and fine work. Having handled a good number of ikebana baskets over time, this one strikes us as quite sophisticated. Of baluster form, meticulously consistent woven pattern, defined foot and rim, sparse and well balanced decorative intertwined bamboo shoots across the face, and confidently woven handles. Excellent condition. Height, 8 inches.

Circa 1900, a lovely Chinese porcelain box featuring a floral theme on all sides with engraved bronze or brass metalwork. In excellent condition including the hinge, this box measures 5" x 3.5" x 2.55".

A beautifully sculpted incense burner in the shape of a nesting crane dating from the 19th to opening of the 20th century, Late Edo to Meiji period). It comes enclosed in an age darkened kiri-wood collectors box. It is 12.5 x 24 x 16 cm (5 x 9-1/2 x 6 inches). Although not altogether clear there appears to be a possible old repair to the back of the head.

This antique copper reposse gau houses a picture instead of a clay tsa tsa which was common for a family gau. when the family could afford to do so, the picture would be replaced by a clay tsatsa. This is indigo dye fireman's shirushi hanten at the Meiji era.(1870~1910) It is tsutsugaki in the indigo dye cotton. Shirushi hanten of this length is very valuable. It is a very impressive motif. There is a little repair mark. However, the state is very good. It is touch of the cotton of a warm indigo dye. It is a wonderful, beautiful excellent article. Please add to your collection.
