This very well designed and carved wood (boxwood) netsuke is 1 ¾” high, 2” wide and 1 ½” thick. It depicts three pods of a Japanese lantern plant (some people call it a Chinese lantern). Two big lanterns and one small lantern are arranged along a stem with a curly leaf which has a few insect bites. It is dated late 18th century and it is not signed. It is in excellent condition.

The base carries the six-character reign mark of the Xuande emperor but this item was made later during the 17th or 18th Century. Condition - excellent. An early 18th Century "Chinese Imari" Tea Caddy or Cannister made in Jingdezhen, southern China, for export to Europe during the reign of the Yongzheng emperor (1723-1736). A very rare scroll weight resp. paper weight made from glass and painted with a very pleasing romantic landscape . This painting is done in a typical Qianlong manner on a opaque white glaze and is covered with a thick layer of transparent glaze. An exceptionally rare turquoise-glazed porcelain vase or flask made in the Jingdezhen kilns, Jiangxi province,China, during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722). The neck is decorated with upright plantain leaves, each shoulder with styalized lotus scroll design and applied buddhistic lion head. The central panels front and back feature the Hehe Erxian - the twin Immortals of Union and Harmony - one holding a basket from which has been released a bat, in flight amongst clouds...

Intricately carved mask for the Nuo esoteric theater, representing the legendary character of Bao Gong, or Judge Bao, wearing a formal hat, his face in relief with a fierce expression, with bulging eyes, open mouth revealing fangs, and a stylised beard.
