This 19th century deeply-carved small boxwood root brush holder (Bi Tong) is 5 ¼ inches high and 2 5/8 inches wide. The carver used the natural shape of the root to create a pine tree and plum blossom. The workmanship is great. The design, carving and polishing are all very well executed. The bottom was filled with softer wood. It is in excellent condition.

This is a rare and interesting ancient Egyptian scaraboid. An uraei knot is depicted on the top and a Hathor sistrum flanked by two uraei is incised on the bottom.

This is a japanese antique Edo period (1800-1867)hemp Buddhist Shugensha hanten coat worn by Shugen practitioners and Yamabushi who practiced Shugendo.
Shugendo is a unique Japanese religion that combines Buddhism, Shinto and the worship of nature (mountains).
It has some light stains and one very small hole, but is in very good condition.

Late Qing Dynasy (1880s 10 1911) century Chinese glass seal of square section. Wonderful simple piece appropriate for a scholar’s desk, beautiful transparent glass, very pleasant finish to the surface. The bottom is carved with four sunken characters, old dried seal paste in the grooves. The impression of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1 (photo is flipped left to right to present the image as it will actually print on paper). Height 1 9/16 inches, 5/8 inches square.
