Dating from the early 1700s before Meissen starting using their cross swords logo is this very rare Meissen porcelain cameo vase. The applied bisque cameo features the goddess Venus looking into a mirror. In very good antique condition, the only evidence of age is wear to the gold gilt. We have not attempted to clean the vase. Measures 9 inches high, about 4.5" diameter at widest.

1830-40 velvet reticule theorem purse In nice condition with some age darkening. It is all hand sewn, lined with fine homespun linen. No rips or tears but there is loss of most of the ribbon trim around the outside edges. It is 8 1/2" top to bottom and 8" across at the widest point.

A crusty wood fired Bizen dish with looping handle, one hemisphere rounded, the other pinched as if for pouring, dating from the Edo period enclosed in an ancient custom fit lacquered Kiri-wood box. It is 23.5 x 22cm x 12.5 cm (roughly 9 inches diameter, 5 inches tall) and is in surprisingly excellent overall condition, with a few nicks to the edge of the foot consistent with age. A very well modeled porcelain teacup with a delicate loop handle hand painted with a red bodied bird perched on a branch in a fanciful landscape with a fence in the background. Hand painted puce flowers on either side of the handle and in the bottom of the cup. Unmarked but the porcelain and the bird décor are characteristically Ansbach circa 1780. 4 inches (10 cm) across the handle, 3 ¼ inches (8 cm) diameter, 2 inches (5 cm) height.

Early 18th C Edo period Japanese byobu painted screen of scholars in retreat. It is composed of 2 panels. The screen has a predominate gold leaf ground on gofun paper. Paint composition is a mineral rimpa paint. The subject matter is a belief of mythology made real. Shu-ton (a scholar's attendant) found a longevity turtle that is believed to be 1000 years old. This porcelain cup and saucer was produced in Germany by Furstenburg between 1753 and 1770. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/4 inches and the cup is 3 inches high at the handle. In this stunning suite of necklace and earrings, almandine garnets set in gilt metal are fashioned into a striking pair of earrings and choker with drop, which can be removed. The choker is tied on with a ribbon. Much of the jewelry of this period was set with pastes. These pieces are unusual in that gemstones were used. Though called "Queen Anne", jewelry of this type was actually made some 30 odd years after her reign.

This beautiful blue and white porcelain bowl is from the Ming dynasty and was recovered from an un-named shipwreck off the coast of southeast Asia. It has a small crack (visible in the photos) but is in otherwise spectacular condition. Inside the bowl is a crane in reeds and on the outside are mandarin ducks and lotus flowers. There is a small blemish on the outside from years of underwater exposure. It measures roughly 19 cm across.
