Very rare Raku Kichizaemon IV Ichinyu (1640-1696) black Raku tea bowl.

Having become Raku master at the age of 16, Ichinyu was significantly influenced by his father Donyu who died at 58. In general his works are powerful, large in scale but with thin surfaces and bold incisions made with spatula.

Lovely Renaissance Revival hall stand, circa 1880. It is walnut and all the decoration is burl. It will hold up to ten hats or coats, and has the original iron pans on the bottom. It measures 91" tall x 43" wide x 16" deep and is in beautiful condition.

Large Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Incised Pottery Buddhist Jar

This rare pottery jar was made in the 12th / 13th century during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368).

A pair joss-stick holders with Buddhist lions standing on a leave-shaped base and a single one with wooden stand. Made of biscuit porcelain and glazed in the "sancai" palette. Dating to the Kangxi period (1662-1722). Condition: the balls of the male lions are lost, both with small restorations, the bulging eyes of the beasts with glue residues, one lion with small flake on the tail. Early 19th Century Japanese Wood Netsuke: ACROBAT

This is a finely hand carved, Early 19th Century Wood Netsuke depicting an Acrobat, who is wearing a fundoshi and sports an Eboshi hat on his head, demonstrating his contortionist skills by placing his left leg over the back of his head.

Very nice carving with great, glossy patina. Unsigned. It measures 1.60 inches (4.0cm) wide, and 1.58 inches (4.0cm) tall. It is in excellent condition, as shown in the posted photos.

Measures 9 1/2" high, and roughly the same from tip of spout to end of handle, base is 5 1/2" wide and 4 1/4" deep. Early 19th century (1830s) Chinese Rose Medallion porcelain cup and matching saucer decorated in numerous colored enamels with scenes of birds and butterflies among flowers. A Wonderful Ball, Black & Co. American Silver Footed Center Bowl or Compote. J R Wendt is the Probable Silversmith. It is oval in shape with dimensions of 14" in length x 9" deep x 4.5" high. Weight is a heavy 27.9 Troy ounces. It has the Ball, Black & Co. New York mark (Formed in 1851 by William Black and Henry Ball. Became Black, Starr and Frost in 1874) and in a shield it is marked "950/1000 fine". The mark dates from 1851-1874 and the bowl is circa 1860. Excellent condition.

Korean antique 2-panel screen painting depicting two tigers. The charming style of this original painting is indicative of traditional Korean folk tigers and yet, they of a finer quality. The artist paid close attention to detail including every hair of each tiger. Wide toothy mouths and round, wild eyes project a playful ferociousness. Painted in mineral colors and ink on paper. A fine old antique gold frame of the 19th century, measuring 27" by 34" by 3" depth, the inner rabbet 18 1/2" by 25 1/2". This frame certainly at one time held a fine painting; there is some hint of there having been a placard. Weight is an impressive 20 pounds; the wood used I believe is heavy oak. There is much evidence of age, moderate wear; but it is in keeping with the age and antiquity of the frame. Currently there is a modern print of a Picasso work inserted into the opening.

Tatougami which was used at the pawnshop for wrapping pawned items. The name of the shop is "koyama Shichi-ten" and it has the shop's logo "小" in the square. It is a few layers of old washi (handmade paper) pasted together and painted with kakishibu (persimmon tannin) for strength and waterproof.
