I had the great pleasure of helping to unpack the Dr. Allen Heflin collection and was able to cherry-pick what I wanted. I thought these were the most unusual of the small ceramic pieces. Heflin's writing is worn on the one in the upper left corner and the only thing I can read is that he found it in 1956. The upper center is Cautitlan, Mexico that he found on 9-14-61. Ancient bronze food container dating from the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD). With a domed cover with loop handles. When inverted the cover becomes a tripod dish. H. 15 cm, Diameter 21,5 cm. Condition: Good condition with excellent verdegris and lapis patina. Provenance: Collection Mr. Poel, antique dealer in Den Haag, ca. 1990, private collection Den Haag.

A truly spectacular example of early Roman glass, being a sea-green bowl of shallow rounded form with a smooth edge and 28 exterior pronounced ribs converging at the bottom. A wheel cut triple band circles the lower flattened section of the bowl.

The diameter at the top rim is 6 1/8", and the height is 1 3/8". The condition of the bowl is superb, with no chips, cracks, or restoration and displaying a wonderful iridescence...
