A finely preserved pestle carved finger - hand-carved from fine white marble, Roman, 1st-3rd. cent AD.
The bent thumb pestle has a handle with stylized lines in the skin because of the bent position and a narrow tip with a carved nail bed. Round base, smooth from use.

Vintage wooden stand made from boxwood .This was made circa 1950/1970. I acquired it from an expat estate in 1987. It was previously owned by an American executive who worked in Hong Kong from 1950s to 1970s. This is a Fusube-kawa (Smoked leather) wallet from the Edo period(1800-1867). Fusube-kawa is a leather that smokes the ground black with the smoke of pine needles and leaves a white pattern. The pattern is expressed by collecting samples of Fusube-kawa type dyeing. It is a valuable item to know a part of Fusube-kawa crafts in the Edo period. Wealthy people in the Edo period put koban (gold coins) in this wallet...
A Chinese censor table of classical style made of a hardwood called chicken-wing wood. The table dates to late 18th, early 19th Century. The table measures about 43" wide x 21" wide x 34" high. The condition is good, but the wood shows shrinkage at the sides of the top panel. The table, where it shows, was cleaned, and the underside was left uncleaned. There are no repairs or cracks to be noted. The table was bought, and imported from Hong Kong, about 20 years ago...

An large and exceptional bronze oil lamp with handle in shape of a leaf and pyramid-shaped, pierced lid. Byzantine, 5th - 6th century A.D.
The lamp is finely engraved and well built. A substantial and very elegant bronze lap with beautifully patinated surfaces. Interestingly, an openwork lid was chosen for it in antiquity, perhaps since it became to hot with a closed tight lid, due to the large size and construction.

Carmine red silk ground fabric with star lattice pattern in silver and gold paper wrapped threads, using the songket supplementary weft technique. Maybe a ceremonial shoulder cloth (kain selendang). Provenance: old Swiss collection. Condition: wear to the metallic twine, only partially preserved. Holes, wear, one rim with loss. Dimension: 133 cm x 53.2 cm.
A fine solid bronze figure of a Rooster / Cockerel, ca. 10th.-12th. century AD.
A beautiful figure, sculptured in the round in a naturalistic manor, very attractive and scarce.
The Rooster has finely engraved feathers on the body and tail. A hole at the top for the loose mohawk which is now missing.
Size: 8 cm. long and 7,8 cm. high. Dark green patina with redish highlights...
Height approximately 12.2 cm. There are two chips at the rim. There is one chip at the base. In good condition.
Width approximately 11.4 cm. There is a soft dent at the body. In good condition.
