This is a mystery piece. Purchased by my mother about 30 years ago in japan. The piece is definitely quite old but the origin is not clearly Japanese, Chinese or Southeast Asian. l welcome any opinions. The glaze and patina is very attractive brown with a creme splash interior, I would venture a guess of age 18th/17th century.

Antique Japanese Hexagon Kakiemon Bowl, with floral, pine and plum blossom "Shochikubai motif". Some repaired loses on the rim but dates from the 17th, 18th century. This a very rare piece with the typical white bisque and colors of over enamel distinctive of 17th, 18th century work.
Considering the age and rarity the piece is in excellent condition.

Antique Chinese gilt bronze Medicine Buddha, seated on lotus throne base. With hands held together upright on his lap. Eyes downcast in meditation. Base closed with cover embossed with the visvavajra or double vajra, symbolic of the thunderbolt and diamond. Wear consistent with age.

Indian Himalayan Copper Yoni Lingam ceremonial vessel for Holy water, Dates from the 17th - 18th century. Forged from hand hammered copper, a tier-shaped vessel with a navel on the interior. Placed on stand, the vessel has a dramatic sculptural presence with a patina showing its use and age. The Yoni (vulva) is the symbol of the Hindu God Shakti.

Antique Chinese large cloisonne censer. Standing on 3 legs, the round body of the censor has two large wing like handles, a tall neck, and is topped with a domed lid. 4 pierced characters around the lid allow for incense smoke and a seated fu-dog acts as a finial and lid handle. Everything but the fu-dog finial and parts of the side handles is covered with cloisonné enamel. The most dramatic portion of the design is the large fu-dogs amidst exuberant peony blossoms...

19th century Japanese woven bamboo ikebana basket made in informal Japanese (as opposed to formal Chinese) style of asymmetrical weave with narrow bamboo strips and couple of twigs on the sides. Charming eccentricity of weave, fine smoked bamboo, beautiful warm patina from smoking process and age. The base is woven in hexagonal grid with three larger pieces inserted for support. Very beautiful spotted bamboo insert with its inside lacquered black, can be used as an ikebana vase in its own right...
1890s - 1910s (late Meiji - early Taisho) Japanese bamboo basket woven in a shape of a tray to be used for ikebana arrangements or a tea ceremony. Wonderful piece made in Karamono (Chinese, more formal than Japanese) style with square grid center and concentric surround. Finely woven smoked narrow bamboo strips, rich warm patina from smoking process and age. The basket is in excellent shape, no broken strips. Diameter 9 inches, height 2 inches.
An antique Japanese Ko Tansu (personal storage chest) made of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. Hand made iron fittings with hardened wood nail and straight dovetail joinery construction. Opening the hinged door reveals two small storage drawers behind. Original age patina.
This chest was originally used in a Japanese home to store letters, documents, stationary and small keepsakes. In a contemporary home it functions well as a beside stand or a side table...
Very unusual 19th century Hirado Japanese porcelain okimono of a swimming koi fish. Superb crisp realistic modeling, wonderful face with beautifully sculpted whiskers, extraordinary depiction of its differentiated scales, clever arrangement of its lower fins providing for a stable display, in perfect condition. Excellent glaze with beautiful deeper color where it is pooling in crevices. Length 8.5 inches.
Late Meiji (1900s) Japanese ceramic chawan (tea bowl) for tea ceremony decorated with what appears to be dumbbell shaped percussion instruments. Dark brown stoneware body, beautiful Satsuma type glaze with wonderful fine crackling, multicolored enamels with gold. Excellent free potting, wonderful sense of energy to the piece, great object in Japanese taste, in perfect condition. Stamped with a potter’s seal in unglazed area by the foot. Diameter 3 1/2 inches, height 3 1/2 inches.
Unusual 19th century Japanese mixed metal scroll weight in a form of a karako (Chinese boy) standing with one hand raised, wearing a rich robe and a collar. Could have been used as a brush rest as well. Dynamic posture, pleasantly heavy bronze with gilding on the collar and robe, intricate textile designs on the robe superbly inlaid with silver, excellent depiction of his chubby face with a slight smile. Rare woman’s pictorial shoulder cloth from a Chin subgroup (Khami, Khumi or Mro) living in the Rakhine and Chin states, west Myanmar. Please note that the pattern is hand embroidered on one side only and not woven in, also most of the geometric woven patterns are unique with only a couple of repetitions. The dimensions are L: 123cm/63in x W: 34cm/13.5in. I have three books and Burmese textiles and there are no depicted examples of pictorial weaves. Circa 50 to 60 years old.
