Interesting large amuletic seal in marble, probably crusader period, 11th.-13th. cent.

The seal was found in Eastern Anatolia / Western Mesopotamia - old crusader land. It was described in the large collection as a 'mystery seal', due to it's strange form and depiction on the seals base.

Finely carved in white marble with uncleaned parts of brown enbedded sand. The amulet in itself had the shape of a veiled Virgin Mary...

Etruscan bucchero olpe with ovoid body, truncated conical neck and lightly flared lip. The strap handle arching from rim to shoulder. Standing on a low ring base.
Bucchero ware was the distinct local pottery type of ancient Etruria. The black clay was created reducing the supply of oxygen in the smoke-filled atmosphere of the kiln.

This is a socketed iron spear from the ancient middle east. This was part of a lot including Bactrian and Luristan artifacts. I do not have an exact cultural attribution for this piece but it is similar to pieces from northern iran in the early part of the first millenium BC. It is 39 cm long and weighs 316 grams. It is intact with no evidence of repair.

Onion-shaped vessel with finely impressed ribs on the rounded exterior of the body.
The flat shoulder topped by a narrow neck with flared bell mouth. The thin handle curves from neck to shoulder.

Ancient Egyptian or Canaanite bronze 'Duckbill' axe-head, Middle Kingdom–Early New Kingdom 2100– 1500 B.C.

Sturdy cast in two halves with a triangular blade, a medial ridge flanked with two oblong openings, and a small round eye for inserting a wooden socket.

Such duckbill axes were mainly produced in Egypt and Syria-Palestine during Phase IIA of the Middle Bronze Age, roughly contemporaneous with the 12th Dynasty in Egypt.

Bottle with a long stretched neck harmoniously twisted in the shape of a swan's neck. The glassmaker shaped his work with gadroons, a painter decorated it with golden flowers. This type of object was a teardrop intended to receive the tears of ladies when their husbands went to war. The almond shape of the edge adapts perfectly to the eye. Ancient MID-LATE BRONZE AGE circa 1500 - 1200 B.C. Central European Celtic Bronze spiral armband – bracelet, made from one continuous bronze wire, coiled at each end into two large spiral terminals. Ancient Greek Cypriot bronze tanged dagger or spear blade from the Bronze Age, dating back to circa 2500-1600 B.C. The blade has a broad tapering double-edged shape with a flattened central rib flanked by two shallow fullers, making it perfect for thrusting and cutting. The blade extends into a rectangular-section tang with a "hooked" terminal at the end for easy attachment to a handle or shaft.

Nice anepigraphic shabti, depicted mummiform with tripartite wig and false beard.
The small face shows nicely modeled features and rather large ears.
The hands are crossed over the chest and hold agricultural implements. The seedbag is slung over the left shoulder. The shabti has a back pillar and stands on an integral base.
The remnants of bone glue on the back point to an old mount. Bone glue was a material used until the 1950s.

A finely carved cylinder seal in brown serpentine stone, Mesopotamia, Neo-Assyrian Empire, c. 9th.-8th. cent. BC.

The seal is carved with an interesting beast, probably winged horse or Bull beside a large rosette symbol of the Sun-God. Attractive!

Ancient Egyptian late period c 664-343 bc bronze amulet figure of the god Osiris with heavy patina . Size H 3" the figure stands on a beautiful ancient Roman or mediterranean glass bead with red and yellow banding.

This is a nice copper or copper alloy axe from Northern Iran. It dates to roughly the end of the third millennium BCE. Similar examples can be seen in P.R.S. Moorey Catalog of Ancient Persian Bronzes in the Ashmolean Museum pp 41-43. Axes of this type are commonly attributed either to the broad classification of Luristan or to the Elamite culture. A wonderful quality pottery Jug from Siegburg, Germany dating to the 16th. cent. AD.

A type called Trichterhalskrug in German, that often was made with an oval or round medallion at teh front. In this case the medallion is unusually crisp and elaborate for the type and depicts a coat of arms for a city or a wealthy House.

This is an exciting little repousse plaque or pendant found in the city of Gilgit. The city of Gilgit was an important hub along the silk road. The image and decor of the piece appears to be Gandharan but as I am not an expert on that particular culture I could be mistaken in my attribution. This piece measures roughly 2 cm square. This is an interesting bronze spear head from ancient Persia. It is similar to items attributed to the Luristan culture ca 1200 BC. This is a heavy and robust weapon with no signs of damage, repair or restoration. It has a square shaft, rectangular "tail" and leaf-shaped blade. This piece weighs 281 grams and measures roughly 31 cm. This is an excellent specimen for any ancient weapons collection.

Condition: Superb, nice even dark-green patina with some uncleaned dirt.

This is really a fantastic fragment of a faience Isis, sitting on a lion throne, nursing her son Horus.
The whole throne, supported by two stringing lions, is well preserved. The lions are extremely fine
and you can see every detail. Dating is between Third Intermediate Period to Late Period.
I think it looks a little bit Nubian, than it is 25th Dynasty. I can not find any parallel of a
comparable faience throne, so it has to be extremely rare.

Larger than usual kylix of Ionian shape showing a deep rounded bowl with high steep rim and slightly tilted handles attached on the belly. The trumpet-shaped foot with flattened resting surface.
The outside of the rim and the handle zone are reserved, as well as the small band inside the lip. No red lines inside.
The shape of the kylix originates from Eastern Greece and was widely exported and soon enough copied in Athens and elsewhere.

Very large black-glazed skyphos with high swelling body and horizontal horseshoe handles.
The torus ring foot with carefully turned and glazed inside edge. The reserved surface with a crimson wash. Excellent brilliant black glaze.
The quality of the pottery shows the treatment of standard Attic products. J. W. Hayes refers to these as Atticizing wares, cf. pp. 43 in: Greek and Italian Black-Gloss Wares and Related Wares in the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto 1984.

Daunian kyathos with wide flat floor and slightly flared rim, the tall strap handle attached at one end.
Decorated (inside and out) with bands and linear patterns in umber and brick red on a buff ground. The floor enhanced with a central flower device.
The floor of vase suffered a shrinkage crack during the drying process. The kyathos was nevertheless fired and reserved for ritual/funerary purposes.
