A Chinese Shiwan stoneware fanghu vase with a jun glaze, late Ming/early Qing dynasty. The hollow tube handles associate this type of vase with the arrow game pastime but this example, given the small diameters involved would be unsuitable. The glaze is a transmutation glaze and its colour is decided by the kiln conditions at the peak temperature.
Shiwan (Shekwan) ceramics are from southern China, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.

This is an intact and very fine example of this ware which, to me, seems to incorporate a human torso, standing with arms and legs akimbo. The colors are quite vivid, with an aubergine purple in addition to the black outlining. A well-carved nephrite jade plaque depicting a coiled, sinuous dragon paired with a phoenix and spiral-incised "bi" disc. The phoenix and "bi" disc have been covered with a gold lacuer gilding. A very rare under glaze blue decorated porcelain bowl, decorated on the outside with a stylized Japanese Honeysuckle pattern in the Doucai manner with 'dovetailed' over glaze green, iron red and yellow enamels.

A very rare and unusual parrot form bronze (copper tin alloy) incense burner made in China in the late Ming Dynasty, probably circa 1620 to 1640, during either the Tianqi or Chongzhen reigns.
This item is partially coated with old black lacquer.
Condition: the cover is missing; and there are losses to the tip of the tail.
21.5 cm / 8,5 inches high / 15 cm / 6 inches across.
