19th century marine netsuke of Shoki the Demon Queller with a drawn sword, and two oni by his feet - one cowering under a woven straw hat, and the other terrified one thrown on its back. Excellent carving of Shoki’s ferocious face with a touch of madness, his spastically clenched hand and dynamic lines of his robe, Expert dark staining, very beautiful wear and patina. Height 1.6 inches.

This is a beautifully handcrafted & forged Japanese silver teapot during the height of the Meiji Period c19th Century. It's designed with a chrysanthemum with high reliefs with hand hammered background...

Japanese large, rectangular suiban, finely cast with stylized motifs of waves and flying birds in relief. Suiban are shallow trays meant to be filled with suiseki or viewing stones, sand, and bonsai. The rim of the suiban are flared with a cast apron of reishi mushrooms. The 4 feet of the dish are in the form of rolling waves. The underside is textured with artist signature and cartouche.

Meiji Period (1868-1912)

The fabric is thick, silver brocade that appears to be taken from a Japanese woman's old obi from late Edo period. The liner is cotton. During the Edo period (1602-1868), there was a custom that the family of a deceased woman would donate her favorite kimono to the temple; some beautiful temple cloths were created from those wonderful fabrics. The custom was likely to have continued after the period...

An antique Japanese Kotansu (personal storage chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Kakute style handles which mimics the angular square lock plates of the drawers. The six drawers of varying sizes allows for functional organizing and spacious storage. Side handles allow one to carry the tansu from room to room.

19th century small wooden netsuke (works as ojime as well) carved as seated Zen Patriarch Daruma enveloped in his monastic robe. According to a legend he had fallen into deep trance, and sat meditating without moving for 9 years, so his feet withered. Skillfully carved out of ichii (yew wood) in characteristic Hida school style with clever use of wood color and structure to add to the charm of the piece. Nice patina, in great condition. Height 13/16 inches.

Antique Turkish rug, hand-woven, all wool in bright red, green, navy blue, and cream natural dye colors. In rural areas, often times goat hair is incorporated in the weave along with sheep's wool. Motifs of praying arches and medallion repeats with tribal influences.
