A fine Japanese blue and white porcelain soba choko with decoration of prunus blossoms on branches rising above an active with breaking waves all over a comb pattern on double blue lines above the foot. This is cotton Haori used in Kyoto for Edo period. As for this, the surface side is a stripe pattern, and the inside is Katazome- dyeing. The inside Katazome dyeing is a design of the grain of wood. This is Apron textile of the baby shibori & nishiki-ori of the last part of Edo era(1800-1867). It is a very impressive design. It has a thin stain. It has a little snag and part which I rubbed against. The black part is a velvet, and the lining is crimson silk. size:39cm x 37cm (15.3" x 14.5")

19th Century Japanese Kutani Porcelain Covered Jar with Mountain Scene

It is 14.4 inches (36.5 cm) tall by 10 inches (25.4 cm) wide. It is 12.4 Lb.

It has been repaired (glued back) at a section of the lid. It also has manufacture chips, small indent holes at the body, uneven glazes, and skip glazes, rubbing of paint, dark spots, firing cracks at the inside, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos)...

Pair of 18th to early 19th century Japanese sword menuki each depicting a sitting spotted usagi (rabbit) with its ears spread widely to the sides. Great design with somehow funny faces. Bronze with black, copper and silver patinas. Overall in great condition for two hundred years old pieces. Length 1.28 inches.

Early 19th century netsuke of Hotei (one of the 7 Gods of Good Luck, also representing Maitreya - the Buddha of the future) holding a fan in his hand and standing on his large bag of gifts. Wonderful early carving, himotoshi arrangement typical for the period, beautiful patina turning deeper yellow on the back where netsuke was touching silk of kimono, old age lines. Height 1 1/4 inches.

Rare Japanese gyosho kannon bako. Constructed of Kiri wood with original red lacquer finish. The piece is fitted with hand-forged iron plates and mounts. The front of the chest holds 3 small drawers in its lower section, with a pair of large doors above. The interior of the chest has a large open compartment with a long drawer long the top. The sides are fitted with iron rings and handles with a long cord so the piece may be carried on a merchant's back.

An antique Japanese Wood Buddhist altar fitting known as a keman. The hand fan like shape were thought to have originated from flower garland offerings seen in India. The keman is decorated with motifs of lotuses with two apsaras. The top of the keman has the crest of the Tokugawa family. Age: Edo Period 17/18th century, Size: Length 25" Height 9.5" Width 1.5"

Rather unusual late 18th to early 19th century Japanese bronze temple decoration fixture of a tennin - a female buddhist angel - as it flies playing a Shu - Japanese musical instrument from a flute group used in Shinto ceremony and consisting of bamboo reeds forming a circular wind chamber. Wonderful design, beautiful flow of her billowing scarves, gilded highlights, great patina. Very well cast, pleasantly heavy, peg on the back for fixing it to a temple or pedestal wall. Length 6 inches.

This is shijira Noshime kimono of the samurais with luster dyed with an indigo plant of nature of the Edo era. This has two places of small holes and thin stain This Nosime features deep indigo dyeing with clean luster and Kasuri of transparent blue.
