Offered is a lovely 18th Century (circa 1770-1800) Japanese blue and white Arita porcelain nagazara (which translates roughly as "long dish") of squeezed rectangular form, painted entirely by hand with a marine view. This is entirely appropriate, as the purpose of such nagazara was to serve fish.

An interesting Japanese Arita saucer form dish decorated in a transitional style incorporating elements of the Kakiemon style, notably the asymmetric elements within the reserves to the outer rim of the dish, with Katamono style motifs dating to the late 17th century or early 18th century and made for the domestic market. It is a very delicate jyoufu hemp and is the best children's kimono. A hand-embroidered amulet is attached to the back. The silk waist straps on a white background are all original.
