Antique Japanese single section isho tansu (clothing chest) with two large drawers. Made all of sugi (crytomeria) wood with deep reddish brown lacquer finish on the drawer panels and black lacquer top, sides and front frame. Iron work includes two elaborate lock plates, raised seed pods in corners, and moko shaped drawer pulls. From northern Japan, possibly Nigata area. Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) Size: 18 1/2" high x 32 1/4" wide x 15 1/2" deep.

This is a children's hakama from the Edo period (1800-1867). Designed with thick katazome stencil dyeing. It is a very beautiful and soft cotton. It is a very good design with good omen of coral and waves. Textiles are hand spun. There is a little stain. No damage. Recommended for collection. Size: 77cm(30.1")

This mid 19th century, Tokyo School wood carved netsuke is 1 ¾” high, 7/8” wide and 3 /4” thick. It is not signed. It depicts a young boy wearing some kind of bib, holding his belly with both hands. It is in excellent condition.

The Japanese Norimono Palanquin is completely covered in a rich chestnut woven bamboo. The roof has a slight curve and a section of the roof can lift up for entry. The sedan is trimmed in black lacquered wood in a double lined grid pattern contrasting with the woven material. Fine Satsuma Blue Ground Vase, finely decorated in two shaped panels one with figures in a garden and the other with tea ceremony objects. The blue ground with butterflies and scattered flowers. Signed in gilt and impressed Kinkozan. Height 14.4 cm. C1900. Condition; excellent.

An unusual Arita enamelled wall-vase, kakehana, circa 1750. The seed-shaped hollow body is moulded with trailing vines supporting a dragonfly. The painter has used two different greens, aubergine, yellow and black. The unglazed back is pierced for suspension. It is probable that this kakehana was made for the home market.

An antique Japanese Isho Tansu (kimono storage chest) made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original bronze hardware and Oxblood red Urushi lacquer finish. Drawer lock plates have an unusual stylized insect-like incised design with fine stimple work accents and handles in the Warabite style. True dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails were used in the making of this chest.
