Late Meiji Japanese Bizen pottery ware chaire (tea caddy for storing powdered green tea used in tea ceremony) with slender body of rounded triangular section and narrow mouth. Wonderful potting, beautiful patina, very nice texture and play of colors to the glaze on its surface. Inscribed by the potter on the bottom. Turned bone cover lined with silver colored foil on the inside. Great piece in excellent condition. Height with cover 3 3/8 inches.

A Myochin iron forged Jizai Okimono articulated spiny lobster. Each iron plate is carefully reppouse hammered iron creating a natural realism representing the spiny lobster. The amount of fine detail that goes into this piece is equal to that of one of his most well known helmets. The lobster is fully splayed on a well mounted bronze stand.

Japanese tonkotsu, traditional box used to contain tobacco powder, aromas or medicines, made in root and decorated with mother-of-pearl floral applications. Floral applications made of mother of pearl are applied to the surface of the box, creating a contrast with the color of the root. In addition, a butterfly is also present on the tonkotsu. A very rare early and finely decorated blue underglazed 3.5" porcelain container bearing the mark of Dohachi I, father of Japanese porcelain.
