Antique Japanese lacquered samurai sword stand,holds five swords. The stand is simply done in black lacquer with gold paintings on the front and back panels. The bridge of the stand is decorated with a view of Mount Fuji divided into two sections. One side shows Mount Fuji with a dragon ascending the peak of the mountain. The other side shows the foothills of mount Fuji with a view of the bay of Tago (Tago no Ura). Age: 19th century. Size: length: 19.5" width 7.5" height: 19"

Attractive pair of Arita Polychrome Vases decorated with yellow, green, maroon, black, iron red and gilt enamels. With two scenes of bijin, each on a terrace in a garden setting. Below an underglaze blue chrysanthemum scroll with moulded flowerheads. Japanese L17thC. Height 15.0cm. Condition: perfect, no cracks, chips or restoration, some wear to gilding on the border of one vase. Flaw to body from potting (image 8).

Set of 6 antique charming Japanese celadon shaped porcelain fish plates. The plates are decorated with red and gold scales and gold fins. They measure 9.25" long 5.5" tall. the bowl is supported with a round rim on the base, it is coated with a pale turquoise glaze. Meiji period pre-1900.

In his hands he holds a vajra, a ritualistic weapon representing firmness of spirit and spiritual power, and prayer beads...

Antique Japanese choba tansu (merchant chest) made with dramatic Keyaki (elm) wood in original lacquer finish. Features sliding doors with vertical slats with a long, single drawer above and two drawers below with lock bar, corner safebox, two plain drawers at the very bottom. Wonderful original condition. A good early Arita Ewer of European form, probably derived from a German stoneware precedent, and decorated in the style of Chinese Transitional export ware with a repeating pattern of bands of Birds and flowers. The jug stands 21.5cm and is in good condition with no chips or restorations, a short trivial hairline to the rim and to the handle, see image no 5. These are usually dated to the period 1660-80...

This striking black and gold Japanese antique shop sign is from a Meiji Era (1868 - 1912) headquarters for a drug store chain. It dramatically declares that this shop carries the best elixirs for vitality, the best remedies for high blood pressure, and the most expedient cures for fever. 17.5 x 41 inches (44.5 x 104 cm). Excellent Condition.

A bowl of unusual inverted bell shape with a comparatively high foot-rim the exterior decorated in early Ming style with an elaborate high looping lotus arabesque to the body. The foot decorated with stylised lotus petals and an “oxo” border to the foot-ring. The interior of the bowl decorated with a band of alternating pairs of crested waves with blossom to the rim, and a roundel form “pussy foot dragon” with stylised clouds in the well of the bowl...

Antique Japanese taiko drum, made from keyaki wood, with an iron handle on its front and iron studding to keep the drum skins into place. Size: 14" wide diameter on top and bottom x 18" high. Circa 1900. Taiko drums are said to have originated when the Shinto goddess of sunlight, Amaterasu, locked herself away in a cave when her brother, Susanoo, god of the sea and storms, became enraged and created havoc on dry land...

Antique ukiyo-e style woodblock print by artist Utagawa Kunisada, also known as Utagawa Toyokuni III (1786-1865), of a samurai warrior blocking the strike of another warrior's sword with his own. He has very detailed undergarments in mesh-patterned blue with light pink flowers, a black and white robe with jagged designs and red trim with a blue obi, and a red headband, with his hair styled in a traditional chonmage...

A dish of auspicious shuronagata, hemp palm form, decorated in gilt outlined enamels with Bamboo and Prunus, emblematic of the season of Spring and the New Year. The reverse decorated with three pairs of ribbon tied shippo, and a six character reign mark for the Chinese Emperor Chenghua. The base of the dish supported by set of 4 spur marks distributed in a Y shaped form. The dish was probably produced at the Kakiemon kiln in the Nangawara valley...

A long dish of elliptical form moulded with petals decorated with a dense hagi-karakusa ground and an oval reserve containing a simple flowering Apricot, ume, growing from a rock. The reverse decorated with Karakusa sprigs, and a spiral Fuku within a double square. The dish dates to the early Eighteenth century circa 1700-1740. The dish is in good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. It measures 20.3cm in diameter, 10xm at its widest and stands 4.5cm high

The front features Persimmon wood panels with dramatic natural grain on its drawers.
