Fine hand axe from Northern Africa, Sahara Desert, Neolithic period, ca. 10,000 to 6000 BC.

A finely knapped bifacial in a lovely pinky-brown silex or chert, with inclusions. Partly polished gloss section.

During this time period, weather conditions called the Neolithic Subpluvial meant that the Sahara was a green, fertile landscape, ideal for hunter and gathering cultures.

This jade skull is yellowish green and is from the Hongshan Neolithic Culture. It was dated to 6700BP-4900BP. It is 1 7/8" long and 1 5/8" wide. It has marvelous patina and the color is mesmerizing. It is 100% translucent. The jade is extremely fine grained and top quality. This could have been the top of a shaman's staff. BEWARE, this is one of the most reproduced fakes out there, especially on eBay. This one is the real deal. I no longer use "in my opinion" COAs...

A small coll. of four Danish Neolithic Daggertime blades, dating to around 2200-2000 BC.

The lot consist of a small spear, 8,5 cm. Two fragments of daggers, 9 & 6,5 cm and a toothedged sickle / saw, measuring 12 cm.

An interesting collection of nice neolithic blades and fragments.

Condition: The spear is intact, the other pieces are large fragments. Nice patinas and old collection tags on all pieces.

Ipethemetes means 'Ipet is her majesty' or mistress or or 'The Ipet of her Majesty'

The hippopotamus goddess Ipet was worshipped as mother of Osiris at Thebes...

A Chinese bronze garlic-neck wine bottle, Western Han dynasty,2nd-1st century BC, of unusual elegant compressed form, 25 cms high, 22cms wide. Provenance: The estate of the award winning costume designer Anthony Powell (1935-2021). Purchased at Christie's London circa 1999.

A Chinese archaic pale green jade sword chape carved on one side with four linear designs, the reverse with a coiled dragon, 5cms wide, Western Han dynasty (202BC - 9AD). A similar chape was sold at Bonhams London, 18/5/23, lot 28, Keverne collection. Another sold at Christie's New York, 17/3/16, lot 920.

Ancient steatite scarab with sphinx, cartouche and papyrus. This type is proven for Amenophis II. and Thutmosis IV.

A large and well-preserved tanged bronze sword, c. 2nd. millenium BC.

The style with the thick mid-rib and two rivets in the corner of the blade is known from the Assyrian period, and the present specimen provincially made around the lands of the Caspian Sea. On this specimen one rivet is still remaining. Very attractive and impressive!

Size: 45 cm.

Condition: Choice - very fine green patina and good metal quality - very few losses and roghness to the edge.

A tanged 'Luristan' bronze dagger or short sword from Ancient Near East, Caspian Sea Area, Bronze age, dating to mid 2nd mill BC.

The sword with high, rounded shoulders and slight central midrib.

Length: c. 33,5 cm.

Condition: Fine green patina. Some roughness to the edges.

Ex. Private Collection in Denmark, formed in the 1990's.
