An interesting, rare and unusual, Buddhist Dehua image of a meditating Luohan in a cave overgrown with branches, his hands holding a begging bowl. This is a well-known motif of the Ming dynasty. Done with very fine details demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship. Hollow modeled. Signed with seal on the back: He Chaozong. Late Qing to early Republican Period, ca. 1900–1930. H 16 cm. Condition: Excellent. Most probably a unique piece and extremely charming!
