This is a truly rare and fabulous Satsuma Vase. It was made for the Japanese Imperial family. It has been in a private collection for decades. On one side all the blossoming flowers have raised relief enamel work. The gold detailing on this vase is as fine as we have ever seen. Unique glossy deep green ground on each panel. DESCRIPTION: A large and handsome Sumida Gawa vase with ribbed body, high relief figures and pinched neck. A thick, traditional flambe' glaze in dark brown and blue covers the mouth and neck, and flows down the shoulders. Fine attention to detail has been paid to the handmade figures of a boy and girl standing on ledges against the ribbed body. Inoue (Ryosai) maker's mark in pear-shaped appliqué on the back. Early 20th C. (pre WWII) and in perfect condition; no chips or repairs...

Antique Indonesian fine wood carved kris handle. The red/brown hardwood carved as a long-haired seated mythical figure with hands on their knees, with scrolling Cirebon (Cloud) motifs throughout. This imagery is tied to tantric Bhairavist cults. Coiled around the neck looks to be a Naga or serpent. The base of the carving is covered by the metal hilt and stands on an iron base.

A gilt copper repousse figure of Garuda, finely worked with outstretched wings, his hands in the Karan mudra or demon-expelling mudra. He wears long necklaces hanging from his neck, with matching arm bands and wristlets. The front of the figure with gold gilt, blue, green, and orange pigments with black and white pigments for the eyes. Garudas are protectors and enemies of the Naga or serpents.
