This is one of the most beautiful and early clubs that I have handled in more than forty years. I am conservatively dating it to the 19th century, without being more specific, although I believe it could well (and accurately) be described as early in the century. The patina is superb, a rich chocolate-mahogany brown, as the photos hopefully will show. The club measures 16" in length; the head is some 3-3/4" in diameter at the widest part. A very rare Ming Dynasty blue and white bowl, decorated to the exterior with continuously fungus/ Ruyi scroll. The interior center also with Ruyi which unfortunately adhere by kiln materials to the center surrounded by Ruyi scrolls to cavetto. Condition is good, a tiny chip, slight warped, no any crack and no any restoration. Ming Dynasty second half of 15th century, possibly Chenghua period. Diameter: 15,5 cm and Height: 6,5 cm.

This is a Japanese antique indigo dy sakiori noragi hanten of paper, Hemp, cotton. It is an item from the Edo to Meiji era. This item was made in Sado region of Japan. It is a wonderful sakiori noragi haten, which is woven with very finely twisted indigo dye, hemp yarn and paper twist. The rubbing of the thread due to use has a warm touch. And the indigo dye lumps seem to look into the very beautiful sea. It does not stain or damage...

An antique Japanese Haribako (traditional tall neck sewing box) made of Kuwa (Mulberry), Kuri (Chestnut), and Kiri (Paulownia) woods. All original finish and hand made bronze hardware. The two upper drawers and the small drawer on the upper neck all have wooden sliding covers to protect the contents within. The hinged cover on the upper neck opens to a small recess where a pin cushion was kept. The center of the neck has a hole where originally a ruler called Shaku used to be held...

This is an intact and very fine example of this ware which, to me, seems to incorporate a human torso, standing with arms and legs akimbo. The colors are quite vivid, with an aubergine purple in addition to the black outlining. The piece is well and thinly potted, standing some 7" in height.It swells out to some 7" in diameter, measured across the area of the two rings ("lugs").

It wears a straw hat to protect its head from the elements and it carries a Japanese ledger book in its left paw.
