A fine 18th century Chinese molded celadon-glazed porcelain dish, finely decorated around the center with stylized archaistic dragons encircling a central roundel of a lotus flower, a band of key-fret pattern around the foliated rim, covered overall in green glazed. A shallow dish, heavily potted, covered in a beautiful celadon glaze producing the crackles of the Geyao type glaze. The recessed base is glazed while the foot rim is dressed with an iron brown wash. A rare polychrome dish in red and turquoise, the center decorated with peony spray. The sides cavetto with block diapers, medallions and roundels still in original state enamels survived from Ming dynasty early 17th century. This flap style hat was commonly used by the men in the cold winters of Northern China, formerly Manchuria, now considered Heilungjiang Province. Padded and lined with silk velvet fabric on the inside and covered with silk satin fabric on the outside, the different layers were quilted together with a decorative floral pattern.

There is a label sewn into the back but any information on it has been worn way from use. The hat is in good condition:no rips, no tears, no holes...

A well painted late 19th Century Chinese Moon Flask decorated with scrolling lotus design and with panels on each side depicting two confronting dragons. There are two 'chilong' dragons on the shoulders. This item was made during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). This small oil lamp has a floral motif cloisonne base and glass globe. An artifact of the Qing dynasty, this style lamp was often referred to as an opium lamp, presummably because of their use in the opium dens of that period.

At 3.5 inches high, it is in good condition with no dents and no losses.

Description: A Yinquing ewer or water dropper was kept with its original cap. Produced from Jindezheng of Jiangxi province, it was an exquisite Qingbai(bluish white) porcelain manufactured in one of the Hutien kilns. On the surface, when motifs of flowers were framed with 16 different sectors, subtle pinhead incursions were randomly spread in the bluish glaze. It happened to the surface of the cap too. A cricket cage made of a long bodied gourd with ivory mounts to accommodate the ivory and tortoise shell lid. The surface of the gourd has a leathery look from age. The tortoise shell piece has intricate pierced carvings of the "Eight Taoist Symbols" amidst curling tendril patterns. Period: Ching (19th Century)

Manchu women never practiced foot-binding. However, during the Qing dynasty, they did wear pedestal aka platform shoes, hoping to give the appearance of smaller feet. The tips of the shoes would appear to peak out from under the robes, giving the foot more dainty appearance.

Flora in heavy pigment decorate the gold leaves of this two panel Rimpa screen dating from the late 18th to early 19th centuries. Tinges of red bring a brush of Autumn to the various grasses and flowers. Heavy veining on the gold as well, evidences the age and brings to vivid life the scene in the fore. The screen has been restored at some time in the distant past with some repairs performed then, and is bordered with patterned blue silk in a natural wood frame...

A nicely carved natural amber pendant of the Hand of Buddha Citron. There is a hole at the top on the piece so it can be worn as a pendant. The citron fruit may be given as a religious offering in Buddhist temples. According to tradition, Buddha prefers the "fingers" of the fruit to be in a position where they resemble a closed rather than open hand, as closed hands symbolize to Buddha the act of prayer. This pair of Kingfisher hair ornaments are from my personal collection. The kingfisher bird feathers are in very good condition and the ornaments are 4 inches across at their widest point. Each piece has its original hair pin attached to the paper back with a wire.

This antique shield is an artifact from the Dutch War with the Atjeh (now Aceh). In short, the Dutch colonial government considered Indonesia "theirs". The indigenous people, the Atjeh, on the Northern part of Sumatra, disagreed. The war began in 1883 and extended into 1904 when "peace" was declared.

Well mold and heavily glazed, the tripod censer was in typical lake-green tint when whitish ridges were on the body along everted feet. A Chawan tea bowl by Goho with calligraphy work by Yamada Mumon enclosed in the original signed wooden box. A nice well made Tibetan prayer beads consisting of 108 bone beads and three pink mountain coral. Two leather counters with ten silver rings each ending with silver inlaid with coral and turquoise. A sage stands in deep contemplation of the sight of a sheer falls , his paige cautiously approaching behind on the rugged outcropping; a fine trumpeting ZeZe-Yaki sometsuke porcelain vase decorated by important Meiji artist Yamamoto Shunkyo. A nice famille jaune bat motive tea cup. It has a Tonzhi seal mark both on the cover and the base of the cup and is of the period.

A very unusual round Ming huanghuali box with a lid. The lid's center has a burl wood center of huanghuali. It is very rare to see burl wood huanghuali in huanghuali pieces. This is the only one I have ever seen. Size: Diameter: 15.5cm. H: 9 cm. Condition: One old small repair (see photo), a natural age crack on one side (see photo) and a small chip at the bottom rim.

Description:
A black-glazed Jizhou bowl was preserved in a fine condition.
By a beautiful grayish image of freely painted plum branch in the cavetto against the black ground, the tea bowl was mold in a typical Wan shape when standing by a flat foot ring which was a strong characteristic for a Jizhou bowl.
The buff-tinted soft-feel paste revealed at the bottom was another obvious characteristic for this dated ware.

Sourced from Rong Jiang area of China, the silver sectioned container was made and used by the Miao ethnic minority as a smoking accessory. Description: A Zitan brush-rest was beautifully carved as a trove of Linzhi plant. Rested on a fitted boxwood stand from which the patina was in warm old condition and was preserved with the dirt residue due to age, this piece was in perfect condition. Description: A Yueyao covered jar was rarely found with dated inscription of The 25th Year of Saoxing period(AD1155). By a fine pale-green glaze applied all over the surface, the jar was fitted with an interesting cap which imitating the roof of a Chinese building.
