This unusual Bizen chawan was made Sakauchi Ensen (b. 1922) of Okayama Prefecture and is unique even among the richly diverse styles of Bizen-yaki. Exceedingly well fired Shigaraki mizusashi resembling two ash covered stacked stones. This ash and charcoal covered mizusashi is an enigma. The signature is illegible but the piece is obviously a work of one of the most talented Shigaraki potters of the post-war period.
