Large and bold hakeme style Oribe chawan by Matsuzaki Ken. This finely formed chawan has an excellent shape to show off the casual hakeme slip decoration that was then glazed over in an oribe glaze that is full of variation, tones and effects.

Oribe glaze has been liked as traditional glaze since 16th century in Japan. It's made of copper, makes green in reducing atmosphere and red in oxidized air.
