A rising star in the pottery world, Yamaguchi Makoto was born in Seto, Aichi prefecture in 1978. In 2000 he was apprenticed to Hiroshige Kato (Kasen Toen). In 2004 began exhibiting his wares and has held many solo exhibitions at Department Stores and top galleries throughout Japan.

Every facet is unique on this natural torn shape by Kishimoto Kennin enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Iga Hanaike ‘Honoka’ or Fire Flower. It is much like a flower in clay, rising up from the bulb, the flowers placed into it the extension of the stalk. It is 32.5 cm (12-3/4 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

What a joy to hold this igneous Guinomi by Atarashi Manabu, the stone like texture and form are a pleasure to the palm. It is covered in thick ash outside, pooling into crystalline shades on the surface outside, while the inside is largely left untouched, offering a view of the clay and a stark contrast between the inner and outer surfaces to enjoy visually. A very interesting vintage Modernist sterling ring in the style of Ed Wiener. Industrial looking and tactile, it is a size 7- 7 1/2 and weighs 11 grams. It is in fine original condition and signed as shown. I have not been able to identify the maker but love the look of the ring.
