From Spratling's first design period, hallmarks date this pin 1040-1944. This eagle serpent pin has superb repoussé silver work. Oxidized recesses and a highly detailed design really make this a standout piece. Measures 2 5/16" x 1 7/8". Weight is 26 grams. Signed and hallmarked with the WS Print Circle and Spratling Silver. Vintage, rarely seen on the market 940 sterling silver graduated disc bracelet designed and signed circa 1948-62 by famous Taxco, Mexico artist & silver Maestro Hector Aguilar. Fabulous French Art Deco beaded rope necklace with beads made of glass, glass based faux pearls, antiqued brass, carved stone, and composition or celluloid. Circa 1930 or 1940. From the estate of a serious glass collector. I've owned many of these necklaces, in rope and bib form. All the beads are wired on brass wire. Continuous strand, 18 inches wearable length. This elegant depiction of a Wiener Dog is c. late 1940’s. The sterling silver vermeil and marcasites compliment the beautiful ropetwist, open wirework of the body. The ear is set with marcasites, as is the eye. The back is marked “ALICE CAVINESS” and “STERLING GERMANY” on applied plaques. The pin measures 2” (from snout to tail) x 1/2". This wonderful piece is in excellent condition.

One of the few female designers of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance that we know of, Bernice Goodspeed arrived in Mexico's capital in 1930, according to Bille Hougart. Even though she and her painter husband, Carl Pappe, identified as writers and artists primarily, they opened a shop in Taxco where they sold not only their books and artwork but also jewelry that Bernice herself designed...

This beautiful necklace is pictured on page 137 of "Miriam Haskell Jewelry" by Cathy Gordon and Sheila Pamfiloff. It has seven clusters of genuine red coral spezzati, turquoise glass beads, and brass bell shaped caps, attached to a brass braided chain, with a spring ring clasp and extender chain. Each cluster has a large turquoise bead at the top, and three turquoise beads at the bottom. The turquoise beads have painted detail simulating the matrix in turquoise stone...

Bearing the signature of Pedro Castillo this bracelet is, for me, a fusion of classic Taxco "arhaeological" as well as modernist elements. The overlay is immaculately crafted - one would never expect less from a Castillo - and the design lends itself to several readings...

One of Hector Aguilar most notable designs who called this style the "Six Spheres Bracelet". It is an impressive piece measuring 7 1/2" long by 1 1/2" wide and weighs a heavy 86.6 grams. Signed "Taxco, HA, Taxco" and tests to be at least 925 silver. Secure box clasp and in good vintage condition with no damage noted, only light signs of wear and tarnish. This classic bracelet by the famous Taxco silver artist William Spratling is an early design crafted in a beautiful combination of Sterling Silver and Copper. It measures 7 1/2" long by 1" wide and it weighs a heavy 74.2 grams. Hallmarked Spratling Silver, Made in Mexico a mark used in 1942. It has a fold over clasp and is in good condition with a few minor dings mostly along the bracelet edge. It has not been polished and retains a lovely rich patina...

This quality bracelet in sterling silver and 14K gold measures 6 1/2" x 1/2". Each link is slightly convex and has a floral design. The back is marked SYMMETALIC STERLING + 14K. It is in excellent condition.

17 in. long 1 1/8th in. tall weight 85 grams This Fred Davis was designed by Valentin Vidaurreta. It was later produced by Hector Aguilar for Valentin Vidaurreta which is also listed on my site. This trapezoid shape has a higher peak and each link is a bit larger than the design made by Aguilar. The design is shown in the book WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE. I could not produce photos to do this justice and only on will the shields come more tightly together...

This hand crafted silver box was designed & signed c. 1940's by renowned artist Hubert Harmon during his short time in Taxco, Mexico. Weighing 265 grams or 9.4 oz. the piece measures 5" long X 3" wide X 1/2" deep. The hand carved amethyst stones & silver are in beautiful condition. Harmon's sense of humor & whimsy are evident in this design where he uses his trade mark "bare feet with wings" along with the face & body of an angel & a carved amethyst star in the sky above...

The early hallmarks on this brooch date 1940-1945. This pin was designed by Valentin Vidaurreta. Shown with onyx stones on p.79, II-12 in "Silver Masters of Mexico", also noted in this book is that Vidaurreta produced work both in his own workshop and at the Taller Borda, and that the pieces sold at Taller Borda were marked with the HA mark until the 1950's. This is the mark of the Polcini jewelry company, founded in New York in 1911. The Ledo mark dates from the late 1940s. With slide clasp and safety chain.
