A very fine miniature of a young lady, done in watercolor on organic wafer. Signed lower right "Becker Px". The sitter is a wearing a gown with elaborate bows along the neckline and sleeves, and a pink sash. The glassless gilded wood frame is original to the painting.

Fine original watercolor painted by British Orientalist Augustus Lamplough, R.W.S. (1877-1930) depicting the wonderful temple complex of PHILAE on the Nile, Egypt. Faint rays of the rising sun appear from the rosy dawn behind the large rock on the right. On the bank of the Nile several people and papyrus boats can be seen. Signed on the lower left corner.
