A large and beautifully painted portrait miniature by Aimee Thibault. Done in watercolor on organic wafer, the work shows a distinguished older gentleman of serious mien, set against a dark background, in a black tie and jacket with a white shirt and collar. The size of the miniature is due to Thibault having worked in France for a large part of her life, where such portraits were often done on a much grander scale than miniatures in the U.S...

Anders Zorn 1860-1920 Sweden This is an original etching by well known Swedish artist Anders Zorn. The title is: Dal River, created and printed in 1919. This impression measures 7X4 5/8 inches, printed on a medium weight laid type sheet. hand signed in pencil lower right. This image appears in the Asplund catalog as image number 284. One of his series of nude bathers that he is well known for.

Arthur J.T. Briscoe 1873-1943 British This is a fine original etching by British marine artist Arthur Briscoe. The title is: The Main Brace, created and printed in 1929. The image measures 13 11/16X9 15/16 inches, printed on an antique wove type sheet. It is hand signed with pen and ink and also numbered 39/75. " This view of men hauling in on the brace while at the same time keeping their balance in the heeling ship as a spray sweeps over the weather rail."

Peggy Bacon 1895-1987 American This is a fine original etching by American artist Peggy Bacon. This image was one of six etchings from the New Republic Portfolio created and printed in 1924 in an edition of 500. Other artists were, John Sloan, Edward Hopper and of course Peggy Bacon. The title is: The Promenade Deck, the image measures 6X8 1/2 inches. Pencil signed in the lower margin. This image appears in the Flint catalog as image number 47.

A nicely done watercolor in natural material portrait of a young woman. Complementing the blue background, the sitter is presented with blue eye shadow and a blue ribbon and bow in her hair. The glazed reverse of the gold filled case is covered with a nice display of woven hair plaits.

Condition is excellent, with a case size of 1 7/8" by 1 5/8".

Dorsey Potter Tyson 1891-1969 American This is a very fine original hand colored drypoint etching by American artist Dorsey Potter Tyson. The title is: Dragon Boat Festival, this etching was created and printed in 1929 in an edition of 100, this one is numbered as 42/100. This pencil signed etching measures an image of 11 7/8X9 7/8 inches. It is nicely framed in an orientalist frame with french matting.

A watercolor portrait, on natural wafer, of a handsome gentleman attired in a black jacket and vest with a pale pink cravat. Housed in a very heavy and well-made brass case with the reverse side being fully glazed over fabric.

The condition of the painting and the case is excellent, with no flaws. The white dots and background color variations are just due to exterior dust and light reflections. Overall size is 2 7/8" by 2 3/8".

Sir Frank Short 1857-1945 British This is an original pencil signed mezzotint by British artist Sir Frank Short. The subject is Sir Francis Seymour Haden aged 74. Haden was the "Father Figure of the British etching Revival". This image measures 11 1/8X14 1/4 inches. This mezzotint was created after the painting by G.P. Jacomb Hood. This mezzotint is in perfect condition, nicely framed with archival materials.

An extremely fine depiction of an older woman, attributed to Charles Jagger, done in watercolor on natural wafer. Jagger was known to draw with a high degree of accuracy and talent, especially in the faces of his subjects, and that is certainly the case here.
